I do love part 2 as it's probably the only one where you could realistically say Jason's still human.

I don't really understand that - either there was something specific about the Psycho transfer that resulted in poor sales, or Universal had their sights set too high - if that was still their benchmark they wouldn't be releasing any titles less well known than Psycho...would High Plains Drifter be getting the green light?

Don't know for sure, but during the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD war we got some pretty specifc figures, down to individual titles. It was a laugh (and a shock ) to see how few copies of a movie had actually sold, sometimes in double digits for the whole country. Anyway, wasn't it Home Media magazine that produced a lot of those stats?

Pure speculation on their part, especially now that Universal has confirmed that they are indeed coming out with a "restored" version of Touch of Evil.

Shawnee Smith is great in it

Watched The Disappearance last night.

What a cool flick. How is it that this is so obscure, with an amazing cast like that?

I had seriously never even heard of this movie, which is pretty rare for me. Really, really glad that TT decided to put this one out. A little-known gem.

TT is hardly even scratching the surface of what catolog titles are availible from Sony, Mill Creek just needs to stepup their game.

So I guess it's as you two say, somewhere between the interview and now they adjusted what they consider successful.

Checked out their website and they use a weird index system instead of actual numbers. G.I. Joe: Retaliation was number 1 last week with an index of 100 and 2nd was Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox with an index of 13.41 which in their system means it sold 13% of what G.I. Joe: Retaliation did. They can tell us that but not give actual numbers .

Anyway, watched the first 20 minutes of Mindwarp online. There appears to be just enough cheese in there to warrant a (partially) blind buy purchase.

It's not really an option for Twilight Time. Their licenses are for 3,000 copies and 3 years exclusivity. When we get around December 2014 and March 2016, respectively, we might here about Sony, Twilight Time or someone else rereleasing these films.

Out of curiosity I did a quick Google search, looks like they were released by the studios from data from Neilsen Videoscan, which IIRC is subscription only.

The chart I found for the week ending 3/18/2007 shows Casino Royale BD moving 28,233 copies that week at #1, and Babel BD at #10 selling 880 Ahhh...the old days (sniff)

Or the guy in Toronto was just wrong. This is one of the things that makes these discussions so tricky. What real information did we have here?

A guy on the internet said a guy in Toronto told him Psycho didn't sell well.

What was the guy in Toronto basing that on? We don't know.

What exactly constitutes 'didn't do well at all'? We don't know.

But we read that little snippet and it becomes an article of faith that Psycho tanked.

I remember my Dad taking me to the theater in Cuba to watch those two movies (this was in the late 70's early 80's) . Definitely, a nostalgic must for me as well as a personal preference for Harryhausen films. Two of the few titles for which I cannot consider taking a chance on a sell out before a purchase.

There's no real information. TT is reacting to the article from the Bits, which they have a right to do. Do we really need to discuss the TT business model again ?

It just seems that someone along the way misinterpreted that as meaning that there would be no royalty payments.
The (purported absence of) royalty payments issue is a separate matter. I didn't make any comments in those regards. If you're referring to someone who argued that TT isn't paying royalties, well I agree that's silly (with the caveat that, technically speaking, they are remitting a licensing fee not a royalties payment).

So in your use of "quarterly" you're referring to an internal "quarterly statement" reflecting the studio's P&L? My reading was simply different of the way Redman used the term: I was thinking more of a BILL that is sent on a quarterly basis to a debtor reflecting the payment they owe for the current quarter.

** Sell out date on SAE. Also sold out on TCM within hours or days.
Try again Rock ...Body Double is not yet a sellout. Not available at SAE but still can be had at TCM for $5 more + more expensive shipping. I saw your "**" but it should not be considered a sellout when it clearly is not. Next thing, SAE will get 1/2 the stock and the other 1/2 goes to TCM to sell at an even higher premium ...at least for the higher demand titles, this could def happen .
