I doubt it. I thought you were offering a Christine for a Body Double. I'd give Body Double a few months being OOP before hoping to make such a trade.

In an interview w/ one of the Twilight Time guys posted here recently (although I think the interview was 1-2 years old), they cited Rapture as one of the releases they were most proud of. The review of the disc on this site is also intriguing.

Those who've checked out quite a few Twilight Time releases, would you rank that as one of their essential releases? Thinking of adding its as a blind buy next time I put in an order.

Has anyone shot TT a message asking about John Carpenter's Vampires? It's Sony.

I watched it the other day and I still never get tired of it. It's one of the few titles I would shell out TT cash for. An isolated score would amazing too since it's got all those heavier grooves to it.

Yes, absolutely.

If you think it will be up your alley, it is a fantastic looking film. My favorite thing from TT.

Default Looking to buy Twilight Time magnets.

Figured I post in this thread and see if anyone has any TT magnets they'd like to sell.

I'm thinking about starting a little collection of Twilight Time magnets on my fridge. If anyone has any Twilight Time magnets they might be interested in selling, please shoot me a PM. Let me know which one's you have, and how much you'd be willing to sell them for. Hopefully someone has some unneeded magnets laying around somewhere.

Thanks

Absolutely. Rapture is, in my opinion, the crown jewel of TT's catalog. My favorite blind buy in years. It is a dark fairy tale about an emotionally troubled young girl's coming of age, and yet within its heart of darkness there is a joy of life that beats undeniably loud and makes it an unforgettable film. Patricia Gozzi is fantastic in this; she gives a powerful performance as the teenage girl Agnes. The setting and cinematography give the film a neo-gothic feel, with a storm shrouded coast presented in glorious black and white, all overlain with a haunting music score by Georges Delerue. If you like Bergman, Hitchcock, and Polanski, I think you will like Rapture.

EDIT: Rapture is available on youtube in nine parts. You could preview it there, but needless to say, only take a taste because the blu-ray is stunning and the only way to experience the film.

Thanks! Exactly the sorts of ringing endorsements I was hoping to hear. I'll definitely pick this up with my next order.

When body double and sexy beast went live I ordered those along with two other titles to put me over the $100 mark, and added a signed copy of The Only Game in Town. My package just arrived and it contained only the first four discs so sometime between adding it to my cart and completing the check out process TOGIT was removed from my order. I guess I shouldn't be too disappointed as I got signed copies of both Christine and Hard Times, but I wouldn't have ordered $100 of discs had I known I would get TOGIT (I'm not very interested in Major Dundee).

When you log into your SAE account online, does your receipt show a copy of TOGIT blu ray on your orders list? If it shows on your receipt, I'd just email SAE and write out the whole situation. If the signed blu ray is on your online receipt, maybe they can help you out and ship you a copy after the fact.

Doesn't hurt to ask.

You might change your mind once you watch it. Peckinpah + Heston =

Absolutely. I'm no stranger to blind buys, and this was one that I was VERY happy I made...

Yes to all of them. Judging by the screenshots, the film does look Bergmanesqe. Gonna order this on pay day, thanks.

I cannot add anything that oildude has not said here. Rapture was a wonderful blind buy, and I have no regrets whatsoever.

Honestly, I'm surprised Rapture is not sold out yet. This is one of the best films TT has put out.

Excited by these enthusiastic reactions, thanks to everyone for their thoughts.

I recently ordered and rec'd Body Double, The Driver, and Hard Times. Haven't finished working through those discs yet, but once I do I plan on putting in a second order for Rapture, The Fury, and Experiment in Terror.

I'm not surprised it hasn't sold out yet. It may be a great film but it's really not a very well known film. I'm a big film fan but I had actually never heard of it until TT released it.

I don't think anybody here had baheidstu...or even saw it coming. In fact, when TT announced this title, I headed straight for the IMDb...prior to that my principal memory of John Guillerman's mid-60s work was war flicks like Guns at Batasi and The Blue Max (actually, he made Rapture smack between them). For me, Rapture was a totally blind buy based strictly on the quality of TT's The Egyptian and Mysterious Island Blu-rays. Never regretted that leap of faith for a second though.

In case you missed it, in post 2291, during one of his infrequent visits to this thread, Nick Redman shared the following anecdote about the aftermath of that release:

Quote:
Originally Posted by Twilight Time:

The conversation goes something like this: "Nick, John Guillermin here. Had some friends round. We ran Rapture again. It looks f***ing marvelous. Can't believe this bloody film is on Blu-ray." Click.
So even the film's director still can't believe that this genre-defying obscurity has been resurrected with such care in high-def. At the time I was baffled too, but when you look at some of the equally off-the-beaten path and previously seldom seen titles TT has taken a fly with (e.g. Swamp Water, High Times, The Wayward Bus, The Sound and the Fury, Désirée, The Roots of Heaven, Beloved Infidel, The Rains of Ranchipur, Pony Soldier, The Only Game in Town, The Disappearance, and even next month's Alamo Bay, followed by Mindwarp the month after that), you realize that even though a lot of attention tends to be focused on TT's more mainstream horror/fantasy sellouts, their willingness to showcase the underseen and underappreciated has rippled throughout this collection practically from the get-go...and is still part of their 'jukebox' style.

Rapture certainly drove home the point that this label was willing to really mix-it-up and mash-it-up, which is one of the reasons I became an early fan and champion...after that title, literally anything was possible.

Add me to the list of Rapture fans, it's an absolutely fantastic film. I didn't blind buy it, but the minute I had finished it I jumped straight on to SAE to buy it.

People moan and complain about the cost of TT discs, but without TT Rapture probably would have never seen the light of day on home video, much less with a great Blu-Ray transfer.
