I guess I'll have to play the cart game and make sure I don't miss out on The Other.

Just got the announcement about The Other, grabbing this one for sure!

Somehow this movie passed me by, then I found a used DVD of it a few months ago and really liked it. Around the same time Rue Morgue Magazine had an article about it so everything seemed to be coming together.

While I'm not a fan of the severe limited editions that Twilight Time enforce which leads to overpriced secondary markets, I do like this choice of film for a blu-ray release.

I'm sure they are. Gotta get those bidders that don't any research themselves. I wish sometimes we were aloud to post comments on ebay. That would ruin a lot of them. But again could backfire on us as well. Somethings need to be kept hush hush.

I'm debating on The Other and Mindwrap. As much as I love the genre I have too many SB's on order and other horror related stuff I need to pay off. I'll give these about 3 weeks and if they are still there I think I'll bite. If not then oh well. Now if they ever get The Blob (88) then I'll for that one day one.

With all the commotion about The Other, I decided to give it a watch.

It's a quiet film, and not much of anything related to horror. Instead, it's more psychological. I'm happy that it's nothing I feel the need to pay $35 for.

Anyone wondering can watch it on youtube.

I whole-heartedly agree with that. I wouldnt spend 30-35 bucks for a movie Ive never even heard of - I wonder if they would put that on a Black Friday sale
At least they picked some winners in the Sinbad films...I bet they will strike silver , well maybe gold but not right away

Placed my order for Mindwarp yesterday, as soon as I could. I saw it on TV years ago, and I thought it sucked. Still wanted a copy, because it never was made available on DVD, and I wanted to revisit it and see how it holds up. I might like it better the second time around, now that I can handle the blood and guts better. I wonder how the transfer will be...

I'll be curious to see what everybody else thinks of it, especially for everybody who's buying it blindly because Bruce Campbell is in it.

Anything from the late 70s-80s golden period is popular and it still has to have certain marquee names attached (Tom Savini, Stephen King, John Carpenter). The Blob remake, when they eventually get around to releasing it, will go like hotcakes, especially now that Shawnee Smith has acquired some great cult appeal thanks to the Saw films.

I think things are going to be quiet for TT until the Sinbad movies come out, those are going to be very popular.

When I said I thought it would sell out fast, I meant it would sell out before November when the Sinbad pre-orders go up. But I guess looking at the numbers now it will still be around in November. Guess I overestimated the Bruce Campbell fanbase.

Well... I started to check The Other out on YouTube last night, but noticed a link for the 2012 remake of Red Dawn off to the side, and my curiosity got the best of me.
(Insert laughter and finger-pointing here.)

I should have stayed with The Other. That's all that I have to say about that.

The last thing we need is yet another label devoted solely to horror. The fact that Twilight Time does everything, even if it doesn't sell, is a good thing.

If Mindwarp has indeed sold more than 400 copies I would say those numbers are more than just "brisk" - we're talking about a fairly obscure 90's horror/sci-fi flick which, I think, many people will have a difficult time justifying paying $35 for. I would've been surprised if they sold 50 copies within the first day but 400 is interesting. As for THE OTHER, I'm happy with the DVD so I don't know if I'll go for it. If I have some extra cash AND there's nothing else coming out (yeah, right) I might grab it. Not a priority, though.

I revisited the first Dirty Harry movie tonight, having received the Blu-ray set this week, and it's fascinating to see this movie with a new perspective after watching Experiment in Terror recently. I never realized how many scenes in Dirty Harry pay direct homage to that film. The excellent essay in the Twilight Time booklet for Experiment in Terror acknowledges this, of course, but it's fun to go through and watch for myself.

If you are a fan of Dirty Harry (or even if you are not), I advise you to hurry and grab Experiment in Terror while you can.

This is too funny. There were people complaining when TT released popular titles from the '90s, because they didn't want to spend $35 for something like Sleepless in Seattle or As Good as It Gets. Now, we've got people complaining when TT releases an obscure title from the '90s, because they can't imagine spending $35 for something like Mindwarp!

Personally, I think Mindwarp is a perfect TT title (as it fits more in line with their "less popular" older titles), and pretty much remains consistent with their business model of releasing titles that would otherwise languish in studio vaults forever.

Personally, I wasn't complaining about Mindwarp or the pricing - just making an observation. I'm blind-buying a copy for several reasons: I love post-apocalyptic movies (especially from the 90's), horror is my favorite genre and I consider TT a terrific company tackling what studios don't want to bother with. I'm glad they're around.

And definitely don't include me as those "people" who were complaining - Ive bought several movies from Twilight Time that I wanted, and never had a problem with it. And I will continue to support them when they have a movie that I want to get from them. But for titles Ive never heard of for me spending that amount on a blind buy is too much. Id love to rent that movie first if I could.
