Most surprisingly so. I rushed to pre-order it on day one since I didn't see it lasting even a month. Four months later and it hasn't even hit under 500.

Thanks for the clarification. I was under the impression that people were buying Leave Her to Heaven left and right, and that it was almost gone.

A few years ago, I ran a local 10K race that where the total participants numbered between 11,000 and 12,000, and where the first 1,000 runners to cross the finish line received an impressive-looking commemorative medal. When I finished the race, a runner who finished one step ahead of me got the last medal, and I was the first finisher not to receive one.

I think about this every single time I order a Twilight Time title. There's always that possibility that the person who orders a title seconds before me will be the one who gets the last copy, and that I'll be the unfortunate 3,001th person to order, just as I was the 1,001th person to finish that race.

Why would you think that? For all its merits, it's still a movie that's nearly 70 years old and although it's a thriller, it's pretty slow paced and quite dated in many ways. The titles that have sold out have tended to be horror/fantasy of more recent vintage. The only film of this ilk that has sold out was the Big Heat and that took a whole year.

If the Sinbad films sell out within a month of release, that would be roughly 10 times faster than it took MYSTERIOUS ISLAND. I know these are going to sell out, but when I suggest it's not going to be right away, people tell me I'm crazy. So, we'll see...

If I was going to guess, I'd say they will sell out in about 3 months time (maybe even closer to 6 in the case of EYE OF THE TIGER). But others here think it will be during the pre-order period. If they do, then it's because speculators are buying them by the dozen. I agree that there should be a limit per person, even if it's 5 copies or whatever.

This is the first time that 2 very desirable titles are offered at the same time, so it's more of a commitment for the scalpers as well, unless they have deep pockets, but I agree there should be a limit.

You guys know that TT retains the right to re-license their titles when the 3-year run is up, right? Any title that sells out (with the exception of NOTLD, because of the transfer) will automatically get renewed for another 3-years/3000 copies. In fact, several of their sold out titles have already been renewed.

Never heard the thing about NOTLD. Why exactly. I know the issues with the transfer, but what are the specifics as to why TT won't renew? Will they be getting a different transfer at some point?

No, I did not know that.

I still don't, actually.

Are you telling me I have to wait 3 more years to get a BD copy of Mysterious Island? WOW! This is almost as bad as Disney's VAULT.

This is why I will order the upcoming 2 Sinbads as soon as they go on sale.

I'll have to enjoy Mysterious Island in HDX on Vudu for now. The PQ is really good (1080p, but the AQ is plain old Dolby Digital Stereo).

I hope that this does not come off as disrespectful in this thread, but it seems to me that Leave Her to Heaven would have sold out faster simply because of the babe factor. I mean, this is Gene Tierney that we're talking about. I understand that her actual character in the movie is somewhat less than ideal in romantic terms, but still...

I will pick up Leave Her to Heaven in my next TT haul. Somehow it has slipped through the cracks but it is a must for my collection. And, yeah, the babe factor is always appreciated .

I wonder if LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN didn't sell out because of the problematic aspects to the existing elements, and since there is the cheaper Fox dvd release, some potential buyers decided not to bite. I bought it this week, but I had avoided buying it for a long time for this very reason.

Leve Her to Heaven was one of those films Scorsese showcased in his A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese Through American Movies. I was always intrigued by the clips shown in it, but once I eventually tracked it down, I was let down. I guess I was expecting it to be a little more suspense thriller, and a little less dopey melodrama. Yeah there's some stuff that happens in it that you wouldn't expect in a film from the mid-40's, but I didn't feel that these twists really elevate it to the level of greatness. And like many films of the era,
[Show spoiler]it had to end in a courtroom
! I guess I should say, this isn't a bad movie, and I didn't dislike it, I was just expecting it to be much better from what I had seen of it, and how Scorsese was selling it in his documentary.

The film does make nice use of color and freatures a great over the top lead female performance. For those reasons alone I'd possibly consider this release if it was significantly cheaper, but not at TT prices.

I agree with this. I'm very glad to have seen it on the big screen once, but don't feel like it will have much replay value for me.

Sure, she was attractive but I don't think she's attractive enough to be the deciding factor. I don't think she has that same allure that someone like Marilyn Monroe has. But that's just me. Plus, I think for a lot of people buying a movie for the babe factor, it would be more recent stuff with a lot of T&A.

I just watched The Other online, and am impressed. It's an understated horror film that gets under the skin all the more because of its subtlety.

I'm going to hold off on purchasing this movie, because I've got some bigger fish to fry at the moment, but it's a cool choice for a Twilight Time release.
