There is a time to speak out and say when something is wrong and this is the time. I do not twitter, Facebook, or any other socail media except this forum. If I did I certainly would express my feelings about TT's action

I'm a skeptic. And I honestly believe this stunt by Nick has little to nothing to do with people who complain about his business model and don't buy his products. I think it was more of a quality control issue to filter his titles to other web based review sites who are far more favorable to his release and company then blu-ray.com.

The Fury springs to mind when it got so so ratings on this site especially for its lackluster PQ however other reviewers on other sites claimed up and down it was worthy of a 5/5 rating. Doesn't look so hot now with the release of Arrows version.

The stupidest thing is that Jeffrey's review for The Other is now up, so it's not like it's going to prevent anything.
It just look like a very childish move to prevent nothing.
"Oh, they are mean to me there." Boo ooo ooo.

I learned about Twilight Time from this site, and, frankly, would like to continue to hear about their releases here. I'd be in favor of this site taking the higher road and continuing to report on and review (when budget allows) their releases. If TT releases a film on blu-ray that hasn't been announced for another region, they are likely my only option for seeing that film in HD for the next 3 years; if they happen to release a film I love, I'll still enjoy reading up on the PQ, AQ, and extras so I can make an informed consumer decision.

Of course, TT can't expect this site to shell out for every release, and I suspect they'll see a dip in sales for those releases that don't have reviews. I'm on the fence about Alamo Bay, for instance, but a rave review here would've inspired a purchase.

Looks like a member asked TT on there FB why they would pull such a stunt. There immediate response below:

https://www.facebook.com/twilighttimemovies

Twilight Time DVD Label Thanks for your post, Remy -- just so you know, our decision to stop sending screeners to the site you mention has absolutely nothing to do with "too many people post negative comments about the label here." If that were true we wouldn't send screeners to anyone! No, the reasons are more complicated than that and must remain confidential. Thanks for your interest.

Since they won't tell, we must speculate (i.e. rumor monger). I think klauswhereareyou is on the right track, a dying website and a dying botique label are trying to give one another relevance.

I'm Remy, and asked about after reading here and on criterionforum what was happenning.

It seems that they don't want to aknowledge what has been said earlier, since I exactly quoted this :

No, there was just something in JMK's post that struck me as very wrong about Mr. Redman's position. If JMK misstated that position then I would offer an apology. I have entered into very few debates on this forum and detest the endless bickering that sometimes goes on in this forum. But maybe it is the lawyer in me, I cannot abide or support a company that would take such an action against this website as reported by JMK. There really is such a concept as free speech.

I'll keep buying, no problem.

They might not be "official reviewers" but I can state for a fact that this place had numerous postings in the Night of the Living Thread that took square aim at Nick personally, and that a major cleanup of that thread was needed for both that and numerous piracy suggestions, which if you dig around have been replaced with more and stand to this day. Anyone who works in the business should find tolerance of that behavior as reprehensible.

Also, the 1st amendment has NOTHING to do with a site getting a free screener, and anyone claiming otherwise is ignorant of said amendment, and apparently that includes a lawyer here as well. If you disagree with me, please show me a law passed by congress, otherwise you are both straw manning and demonstrating a lack of understanding.

Nick Redman pulled screeners from Blu-ray.com, he didn't commit a capital offense. People are getting too involved and emotional over this decision.

Companies pull screeners from smaller review sites all the time if they don't tow the line, it usually doesn't happen to Blu-ray.com due to its traffic and number one market share in the category.

So much amateur melodrama and personal affront in here, all over a bit of plastic. Next thing will be a Facebook page, a class action suit, then slapping Redman across the face with a white glove and challenging him to pistols at dawn.

I never said that TT could not legaly stop sending free screener due to free speech. I in fact I would fight for their right to do just that if they wanted.

If JMK's post is correct, however, the clear intent of such a move by TT would be to squash free speech by the implied threat that some say here goes on all the time of " Say nice things about us or we will stop sending reveiw copies.

I as an individual have a right to say I don't want to do business with a company that does this. It is that simple. I have never advocated a boycott nor do I criticize those that wish to keep buying from TT. I speak only for myself.

Mr. Redman can attempt to spin this any way he likes. I have every email he's ever sent to me, including the last one where he clearly stated he would no longer provide screeners due to the negative posts on the Twilight Time thread (he specifically referred to an "anti-TT agenda" on the part of the site with regard to the posters "officially" part of the site, per my first post this morning). To be fair, he also said that no news coverage had been posted, but that said, he failed to realize he had never sent PR material to our news team. He also mentioned that we have prevented pro-TT people from posting, which is manifestly not the case as even a cursory reading of this thread (including tons of posts today) more than proves. I have Moderator status here and can see every post that has been moderated, which are solely *negative* posts. Mr. Redman may be referring to his former business partner at a record label, who was in fact suspended here, but for reasons that had nothing to do with TT. According to the last email I received from Mr. Redman, he is under the impression that he and TT are treated "drastically different" here than other boutique labels. I'd refer him to any given Shout! thread if he thinks TT is the only label feeling the wrath of various fans.

As hopefully is shown by my review of The Other today, Mr. Redman's decision has absolutely no bearing on how I will continue to cover TT releases as I am able. Unfortunately, the days of every TT release being covered here are probably at an end.

They may be sore because an alert member with a long memory noticed that the reason given for Twilight Time's name changed in a recent interview. Originally, it was said that the name was chosen because it was "twilight time" for physical media; in a recent interview, the same person said that the name was chosen because a great risk was taken by the founders and it might have meant "twilight time" for them, financially. Many people don't like to have their inconsistent statements pointed out to them.

edit: I've always thought that this thread should be in the Collectibles/Limited-Edition section of the site.

FWIW names came be chosen because they resonate for more than one reason; and besides, those reasons are fairly compatible and perhaps even overlapping.

I had no idea Twilight Time was sending screeners in the first place. The reviews usually pop up at the same time everyone is receiving their discs.

Hmm. While I only know Mr. Redman from reading some of his interviews, I think the only thing he really proved with this is that he would fit right in as a regular poster of a TT thread.

But please lets quell some of the lunchroom posturing for "retaliation". It makes this place look deeply silly.

I think I have an idea who that former business partner may be. Although in the past he has posted to have no ties or relations to TT other than being a overly enthusiastic fan of TT only.
