Glad I hate TT now. I can't afford 4-5 titles a month.

From this new TT list THUNDERBOLT AND LIGHTFOOT is the only one I would want to buy. But like you said Second Sight's version might be superior especially in the extras dept.

Solid list of releases. I suspect Crimes and Misdemeanors will sell out before release date, there are definitely 3000 Woody Allen fans willing to pay TT's prices. I do worry about the quality of the transfer, MGM's Woody's transfers on Blu-ray have been nothing to write home about.

Khartoum, Zulu, and Titus are probably what I will pick up. I do own the UK Zulu but that transfer had serious DNR.

Been waiting for Thunderbolt & LIghtfoot for ages

Will the second sight release use the same transfer?

What I mean is will the SS issue be out around the same time?

Here's hoping that they will firm up a release date before TT's issue becomes a preorder.

I just want to thank everyone for all the belly aching everyone did about TT. Thanks to you, this website will no longer be receiving any screener copies. It's quite simple folks, if you don't like the way a company conducts its business, then don't patronize them. I know the complainers really just want TTs prices to be cheaper and the releases to be unlimited, but they aren't. So grow up, move on, and continue shopping where you belong.... at WallMart.

Frickin babies.

I'm so sick and tried of read the same complaints (over and over again) about TT on this forum.

Yeah, Twilight Time isn't really good at the whole customer service thing. Mind you, I can see how all the criticism (sometimes valid, sometimes not) would get wearying and disheartening when you put so much effort into what is essentially a passion project. But when you start a company you kind of have to expect that you'll sometimes (or oftentimes) hear negative things - particularly when said company specifically caters to collectors, who tend to be notoriously picky (and vocal in their criticisms when they're not satisfied.) Not all complaints are going to be rational - but that's also something that you've just kind of got to learn to deal with.

Throwing tantrums, insulting your potential customer base - and just generally acting like 5-year old kids - probably isn't the best response to negative criticism.

It's also a bit funny, and sad, that their acolytes - no names will be named here - tend to adopt an almost identically childish and irrational attitude, while fooling themselves into thinking that they're being more reasonable than all those mean meanies who dare to say negative things about their beloved Twilight Time.

-

...Anyways, with all that said, I've still been very pleased with the few Twilight Time releases I have picked up (with Rapture being one of my favorite discoveries of recent years.) I'm very excited about their Oliver! release, and their January-February slate contains at least three "will most likely buy" titles.

If the company is the only one offering releases you want, people are perfectly within their rights to criticize said company's business practices. This isn't like "Walmart vs. Target," where if you don't like the prices or the policies at Walmart you walk across the street to buy all the same things at Target.

Excellent reasoning there, fellow. Make presumptuous comment about what the "complainers" "really want," then proceed to tell them that they "truly belong at Walmart." Truly scathing criticism.

Poor thing. Do you think there might be any way to notify the police that there are people forcing you to read this thread. As others have pointed out, there are several places on the web where attitudes towards TT are much more... Enthusiastic. If you don't like the tone here, perhaps you could ignore this thread and participate in the Twilight Time threads there? You'll still be able to learn about all their upcoming releases, and you'll be spared the stress and strain of hearing negative opinions.

Look: I know we'd all like to live in a super happy fun world where nobody ever says anything rude or negative about the things we like. I too feel bad when people say that one of my favorite movies "stinks" or that something I like might have some problems.

But that's not the actual world we live in, and a part of living in this world is learning to deal with the fact that sometimes people will disagree with your own opinions and preferences. There's no good reason for those who don't feel as positively about something as you do to "shut up."

No one is forcing him to read this thread however in order for him to read something of interest or importance he his scroll and weed his way through the same repetitive complaints that the same people have had from the very start of Twilight Time. We get it, we know how you feel .
And if you don't like people speaking their opinion about what they think of this thread with the same complaints than maybe you shouldn't be here either come to think of it.

According to Dave Kehr, Man in the Dark was rushed through production just to beat House of Wax to the punch by 2 days.

I wonder if it will be more expensive because it is 3D?

And as I already stated in the very paragraph you quoted, there are plenty of other places to get that same information where he's less likely to encounter the negativity that bothers him so much.
Quote:

Good try, but it doesn't quite work. The main difference is that I'm not complaining about the tone of an entire thread with nearly 7,000 posts - I'm criticizing a specific post.

Second of all, I didn't say he "shouldn't be here" - I merely stated the simple fact that if he's so displeased with the tone of the thread there are other places to get the same information that won't "force" him to read all the negative opinions. I, on the other hand, have no complaints about the overall tenor of the thread, so there'd be no good reason for me to stop reading it.

For the record, there's a difference between:

"I don't like this aspect of Twilight Time's business model" [posted in a thread about Twilight Time]

and:

"Gosh, why can't you guys just shut up about what you don't like about Twilight Time. I shouldn't have to be exposed to criticisms of Twilight Time in a thread about Twilight Time! All you complainers are just a bunch of babies!"

Furthermore, I don't have any problem with people saying "I think the criticisms of Twilight Time that have been stated so many times in this thread are unreasonable" and explaining why. I only have a problem with: "I can't stand negativity so you should all just shut up" (plus an extra dose of condescension and presumptuousness about the motivations of the "complainers.")

If I had said: "Gosh, all the complainers about the complainers in this thread make this thread completely unreadable and they should all just shut up and go hang out at Goodwill where they belong," your post would have been a bit more on-point.

The funny thing about the complaints is that that are directed at the wrong company - TT! If you want to complain about high prices and limited quantities than complain to FOX and SONY for not releasing the titles themselves. Fox and Sony have release lower priced catalog with unlimited quantities for some titles - but others they license out - why? Only Fox and Sony know - but they are the companies to complain to, not Twilight Time

Um.. who cares? Who cares that blu-ray.com doesn't get free swag from a company because people are complaining ON A FORUM, which is usually about discussing things, which usually ends in somebody complaining about something, as humans tend to do when they have a forum to complain in.

Jesus Christ, man.. you'd think you just discovered the internet or something.

Here's another idea: if you don't like the complaining on a thread pretty much made for complaining, then don't visit the thread.

Now back to complaining about the over-priced (and apparently successful) selling model of Twilight Time designed for the hard-up and scalpers!
