Ah this thread never ceases to entertain!

To get back on topic: I finally ordered Leave Her To Heaven which had been on my SAE wishlist forever.

Just an fyi...

Most of you probably know this, but there are a few TT titles available on Amazon Prime that members can stream for "free" in HD (if you're already a member, that is). One of the titles is Drums Along the Mohawk, which is a movie I'm glad I've seen that way. After watching it, I'm actually still tempted to get the blu-ray, but space, time, and those darn unwatched blu-rays are holding me back. Also, this is one of those titles where Fox threw away the Technicolor negative back in the 1970s, and so in spite of the glowing reviews a few have posted, I'd rate the PQ more of a B- or so. It's nowhere near Oz or other titles where the negative was preserved.

I don't have any TT titles but aim to try for Rollerball when it comes out. Is there any definitive news on this yet?

Also, I seem to recall that TT Blu-ray titles are sometimes Region Free. Is this a fact?

Other TT titles on amzn Prime in HD include Song of Bernadette, In Like Flint, Steel Magnolias, etc. Streaming is obviously not as good as a blu-ray, but it's better than nothing.

Yeah, the Sinbads look interesting. I saw a few of those as a little kid back in the day. They were ok! But my memories are quite vague. Beyond the Harryhausen FX, which are always cool, what are some of the attractions of these movies? Like some of you here, I sometimes have a hard time paying $30 unless I really love a movie. Plus I have about a dozen blu-rays I've bought but haven't watched yet, and I'm trying to watch those before I buy more....
As I mentioned in an earlier post, the Sinbads have nostalgiac value for me. I saw Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger with my dad in the early 80s. I simply enjoy the old-school 70s fantasy style of film, the classically trained British actors hamming it up, the starlets like Caroline Munro or Jane Seymour in their titillating but strictly PG-rated costumes, and the wonderful, somewhat dated quality of the Harryhausen creations.

The most recent issue of Cinema Retro magazine (for those who are like me and still enjoy reading articles printed on dead trees) features a story on the Edgar Rice Burroughs films of the 70s which also of a similar vein to these.

I assume you've seen the original Clash of the Titans? Even though that one was rated pg, iirc, there are a few seconds in that one that'll open most people's eyes lol!

Yep, I've seen that many, many times, including when it first came out. In those pre PG-13 days, you could get away with a bit more in a PG film vis-a-vis brief glimpses of nudity.

Apart for The Disappearance the rest of the Twilight Time BDs have been region free so far.

So back to future releases, what do we know so far? Specifically, Khartoum is a 70mm film. Have there been any hints as to the PQ? What studio is that coming from, anyway?

Khartoum is a United Artists film, so it's held by MGM/UA in North America. Based on what's been announced or rumored to be coming out, it appears that they've added MGM/UA to their list of licensors starting in January.

Other MGM/UA titles supposedly coming up are Zulu (also in January with Khartoum), Crimes and Misdemeanors and Thunderbolt and Lightfoot in February, and the rumored Rollerball.

Yes. And thanks!++

The big titles from TT keep rolling in. I like the variety of their movies. It's an interesting mix. I don't see how I can't get Crimes and Misdemeanors, since that's one of my top 10 for Woody Allen. It's such a great mix of comedy and drama--and I don't think I've seen it since it came out. I did see Khartoum long ago. Pretty good film. If the transfer is a wowza 70mm thing, I may have to bite on that one.

Zulu I think I can skip. Why? I read that the transfer is only so so, and plus it's available streaming.

ebay/Paypal should protect you if you do receive a boot. If you're not sure what you've bought is genuine put some photos on a site like this, counterfeiters rarely get every detail right.

Ok thanks for the tips. If I win I'll be sure to post what I get and if it is legit.

Watched my copy of The Other over the weekend. Sound and picture are great. I was a little lukewarm on the movie. I'd give it *** out of ****. When it was on, it was on, but man did the down moments feel like watching a subpar made for tv flick. Maybe I'll appreciate it more the next time I watch it.

In style it is very much like something made-for-TV (from that era), the composing of the shots and the lighting of interiors. In fact, if it wasn't for the Jerry Goldsmith score, I wouldn't care much for it at all. As is, I'm not that crazy about it, not enough to pay $30 bucks for it on Blu-ray. Sorry TT.

Me, too..... just not "$30+ each" nostalgic value.

Goldsmith's score helped make up for some of the film's deficiencies. I'm looking forward to playing the isolated score on this disc since apparently it has some music cues that went unused in the film.

Waiting for Used Cars in April. Might get that Clint Eastwood / Jeff Bridges movie in February. Will get The Blob remake whenever they get around to releasing it.
