"Was" more mainstream Joe. All of this stuff is vintage catalogue now, which, coming from SPHE, makes it fair game. But at TT's current rate of release there are only 12 SPHE slots available each year. Like Arkadin, I would rather see them go after the more lost, forgotten, or neglected titles first.

And before any of this other great stuff gets done, I still want to see more Harryhausen...especially First Men in the Moon!

Given the choice First Men in the Moon would be my pick. By more mainstream I meant possible wider appeal.

Nice list. Many of my most wanted titles are on there. Add King of the Khyber Rifles and Samuel Fuller's China Gate and our lists would be nearly identical. China Gate is definitely in my top three most wanted Fox titles.

I've never seen "China Gate" but do agree with you about "King of the Khyber Rifles." In fact, that is the only Tyrone Power film where I own an original one-sheet movie poster!

Now it's a Best Buy exclusive. Release date still stands.

Big Box and Online Retailers alike would laugh Fox right out of the office if they tried to pitch upcoming retail releases for any of those titles.

Interesting about that Titanic (1953) cancellation jaaguir (as of this morning, it's vanished from my Amazon wish list without even casual mention why), and very suspicious about the *coincidence* of the timing. After all, Titanic is another Fox Studio Classics title, just like the first two offerings via SAE. So no need to guess where that one is going now...

If TT is smart, they'll just hold the course and keep doing what they've already been doing so well. In a curious kind of 'upside', Fox' decision to take these catalogue *exclusives* to SAE in advance of general release merely increases traffic to the site and legitimizes SAE in the eyes of holdout buyers, which, by association, ups the visibility and credibility of TT's own limited editions.
The one thing I don't get about this whole issue is the pricing. I mean, the list price for Fox's other exclusive deals (Walmart, Best Buy) is $25. And the retailers are selling them with a discount, even cheaper (especially Walmart). But with SAE, they choose the $30 price tag? Why? Because people are already paying that for the TT titles and it's working well? It's annoying.

Also, I wondered, if "The grapes of wrath" is really going wide in June, shouldn't Amazon's own pre-order page be up soon? Then we would know for sure what to believe.

You think TT also have a business where they also sell car stereos, boomboxes, and the like? BB & WM sell them at those prices because they can afford to.

Why even compare?

In any case TT also offers a great transfer, isolated soundtrack, and professional liner notes.

he's talking about the Fox SAE exclusives. Those are not TT titles so they will not have the isolated score, etc.
He's making the point that those Fox titles are priced at $30 and will likely be much lower once they go wide.
that's what is kind of strange. a $30 price tag for only 2 months of exclusivity.
and the BB Titanic exclusive is only $19.99.
why are the SAE Fox exclusives $10 more for similar type films?
(both part of the Fox studio classics dvd line, as is Titanic)

Because SAE sells them at MSRP while big stores discount 30-60%.

Bell, Book & Candle and Picnic are going to be my first Twilight Time releases. I ordered the two over the weekend and can't wait to see these two movies again. I saw both of them on TCM and loved Bell, Book... and wasn't too impressed with Picnic, but I'm sure I need to give it a second chance.

You're going to have to pick up Pal Joey next, just to complete the Novak collection

Just got my package with Demetrius and Bite the Bullet.

Magnet fans are going to be disappointed with this batch.

No, in my previous posted I already noted that the MSRP for the BestBuy exclusives is $25. Then they add a discount to that. The SAE Fox exclusives are priced $30 (and of course there's no added discount). That seems "unfair" to me, is all I was saying.

I starting to think maybe there's some misunderstanding with the wide release date. I believe SAE stated they were getting 2 new Fox exclusives each month. That would mean that eventually Fox would be releasing 2 old movies on blu-ray each month wide too. Plus their other exclusives. That sounds strange to me, it's a pretty steep schedule, big studios haven't done that until now on blu-ray, ever. Not even Warner nor MGM (maybe the most active studios with catalog) release that many.

No offense, but one might as well say that they think capitalism is "unfair". We live in a capitalist society, we have to take the good with the bad... imho.
