Yes they have released lots of titles, where they are lacking is in their vast Classic/vintage catalog, yes they throw us the occasional bone, but they leave us hungry for more. The archive collection was suppose to address this but so far it has not, the idea was to make small batches of blu-rays and have 2 titles a month to start, and so far we have 5 and a TV show since they started 1 year ago. So far it has been Twilight Time, Olive, Criterion, and a few other small labels that have been taking up the slack.

I agree Amazon is my best friend, I wish the stores in my area had a better selection, I like browsing the Blu-ray sections, Walmart, Costco, BB are very poor, but we are getting a Target next year so there is hope.

Don't expect much. Target opened two stores here earlier this year. Movie selection is pretty lame. New releases and a handful of mainstream catalogue titles (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Mummy collection, that sort of thing).

My Best Buy here is still fairly decent but I fear it'll go the way of Future Shop and vastly downgrade their movie/blu selection.

HMV is the only good retailer as far as selection goes.

That's sad to hear, we have a poor excuse for HMV in Barrie, they seem to carry more T-Shirts than anything else, HMV in Toronto downtown is still the best one but with what the parking costs down there I hardly ever go.

Too bad about the HMV there. The ones here are great. Both are in mall locations and always bring in a great variety of Criterion, Olive, Shout/Scream titles. Back when Swamp Thing came out, I went looking for it there only to be told that they had two copies that both sold out! They already had 3 more copies coming in. I wasn't disappointed that I didn't get a copy that day at all, I was pleased to hear that there's still a market for older titles on blu ray in B&M stores.

Re: Target - I was hopeful too when they opened up here but, seriously, they are no better than the Zellers they replaced. Maybe a little brighter and shinier but no better for selection. Heck, at least the Zellers used to have bins with tons and tons of older DVDs for 4.99 & 2.99, I used to find a lot of great titles that had been OOP for years. One time I found 6 copies of Barfly and was able to sell them all on E-Bay for about $60 each!

And I would jump on this immediately if anyone wants the Sinbad films because TCMShop coupons do not usually work for Twilight Time blu-rays

Anyone have an idea of the quantities remaining for both Sinbad films on the SAE website? I'm trying to recoup from all of the sales today and would like to hold off on a $60 purchase.

At SAE 1492 for Golden Voyage and 1611 for Eye of the Tiger plus any additional stock at TCM.

The Sinbads sold briskly the first couple of days, but they seem to have slowed down to a crawl at this point. Is the guesstimate still that these will be sold out before the streetdate of Dec. 10? I think these will still be around for a while longer, maybe a few months.

Well they have half of their stock left. I wouldn't say months but I would say that they might make street date now.

The fact that SAE imposed a 3/2 copy limit per customer tells me that TT expected them to be popular titles. If they hadn't done that I'm sure scalpers would have snapped up a lot more copies.

Their official 'street date' is December 10. So it depends on whether the pressing is early, on time, or a bit delayed. (i.e. pretty much any time between maybe Dec 5 and Dec 15 maybe.)

As much as I hate the $29.99 plus shipping price point for what are essentially "bare bones" Blu-Rays I was willing to play along since movies like As Good As It Gets were worth the headache and pricepoint to play the Twilight Time game.

Will be a hard thing for me if About Scmidt gets the TT treatment as well.

The pricepoint and limited quantities were annoying enough as it was. If I get nailed by Canada Customs for Blu-Rays then Twilight Time has lost a fairly regular customer.
Well, I am very happy to say that SAE did not drop the ball on this one. No customs which was a legitimate concern for me since some other Canadians recently got nailed with customs and duties.

The Driver, Oliver!, and Steel Magnolias have joined the collection.

That makes a grand total of 6 TT BDs in my collection.

I was prepared to take my business elsewhere if I had of paid duties. As it is I am very pleased with how this TT/SAE transaction turned out. Looks like I will be a returning customer again.

I remember reading a article about Sony that talked about the Ray Harryhausen set not selling as well as expected. This was right about the time that Sony jumped ship on catalog titles. I don't think these titles are as popular mainstream as many seem to think. I could be wrong, but I think the only way these will sell out quickly is because of people afraid they will and scooping them up.
