Funny, I "predicted" Alfredo months ago, but the mods cited me as having "no proof" and warned me against posting misinformation. I guess my conversations with Nick weren't "real" enough. Guess I was right as usual.

Nope, you're still deluded about the definition of a slow burn.

Since I don't see that much love for EQUUS around here, I thought I should just mention for those who haven't seen the film (or play) that it's a bit of a sexually twisted tale and quite shocking in other ways as well. Horses are involved, but this is definitely no 'Seabiscuit' type movie. Heartily recommended if you like dark cinema.

Also, Jenny Agutter has full-frontal nudity. So that probably helped sell 1,000 units right there.

Isn't Fever Pitch already on bluray?

TT is releasing this British film from 1997 (the 2005 version was an Americanized remake):

Looking forward to picking up MAN IN THE DARK, can't get enough noir, interested to see the artwork for this too!

Also will probably get KHARTOUM but will pass on USED CARS despite it being incredibly funny as I can't justify TT's expense for a comedy film that has a fair transfer on DVD.

Lots of cool extras on that DVD that might not make the eventual transition to blu... so you may not have even wated that $3. Hang onto it in case it's needed to make a 2-disc set down the road.

Well the version I got was actually some sort of re-release from a few years back that only includes the commentaries, and had a digital download that is no longer valid. It's funny because I could've sworn that I remembered renting the disc from Hollywood Video years ago and it had more extras. I guess it did!

Funny, Alfredo was hinted as a forthcoming TT release four months prior to official announcement. You really shouldn't pat yourself on the back for this one. You've probably been warned because of your attitude, more than anything else.

I would like to know what Mod warned him about hinting about Alfredo? I warned about posting that all TT sellouts had been renewed for another three years and 3,000. That is all...for which he told me that he got his inside info from "Nick". I have yet to see anyone from TT confirm said information. In fact, Ms. Kirgo posted in TT's FB page something that would directly contradict retablo's claim(it was posted in this thread a few weeks back) that is all .

Fever Pitch seems like a very questionable choice - how many Americans are even aware there was a British version (no one here seemed to be), much less interested (especially enough to pay $35) in a film about a rabid soccer fan?

I've never heard of this movie but your description sounds like it's probably my type of twisted movie.

Sold!

I had a crush on her the first time I saw American Werewolf In London 30+ years ago.

I'll have to pick this up along with Used Cars and Titus.

I was interested in this, but still on the fence. Not going to lie, that just pushed me closer to a purchase. Love Jenny Agutter.

How good is "Broadway Danny Rose"? Around the time Woody's most recent film was coming out, "Blue Jasmine", Andrew Dice Clay was on Howard Stern and talked a bit about the process of getting the role in that film and mentioned off hand I believe that his favorite Woody Allen film was "Broadway Danny Rose."

Now, of course I will watch the film before I fork over any money to "Twilight Time" for it, just to make sure it's something that will have repeat value with me. And honestly, I haven't seen too many of Woody Allen's films although I really did love "Midnight In Paris" and am eagerly awaiting the release of "Blue Jasmine" as I really want to see that.

You know, I think all of us can agree that if Twilight Time didn't limit their runs of films to 3,000 and came down on the pricing much more blind-buying would probably happen, in fact, if that were the case I would probably just blind-buy "Broadway Danny Rose." But, no "Twilight Time" is truly the most pain in the ass company in the blu-ray game.

Isn't Nick Redman British? It's possible he's a big fan of the movie, and that's basically the only reason they're putting it out.

I should have also said that EQUUS, being based on a play, is somewhat stagy and dialog-scene driven, and quite leisurely paced at over 2 hours, so it's definitely a slow-burn that some viewers may simply not warm up to. Some of the shock value it once had will also seem quite a lot tamer today as well.

I still heartily recommend the film, but I don't want to over hype it as some sort of sick, sleazy, or violent flick, as it isn't any of those. It's much more of a psychological character-driven mystery-drama that builds very slowly to its tragic denouement.

It's hard to say how much you'll enjoy Broadway Danny Rose. Woody Allen is the star of the film and he plays a slight variation of the Woody Allen character that he plays in all his films. The film is beautifully shot in black and white and is a comic farce with lots of funny one-liners. If you know anything about stand-up comics from the 50s and 60s, you'll enjoy seeing a few of them in a few short scenes.

To me, it's one of my favorite Woody Allen films and I'd easily put it in my top ten films of his. With that in mind, I thought that Midnight In Paris was vastly overrated and a movie of warmed-over ideas and plot lines he has better addressed in previous films. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed his next film To Rome With Love much more despite several negative reviews.

Guess you better rent the DVD before you buy, but for me it will be a Day One purchase.

Nope. But I've been right 100% so far… so I think I know what I'm talking about.

And I wasn't "hinting", because my information was correct. It was confirmed to me.
