when you stick a product on the back shelf of a dusty old corner of your store where only a fraction of your customers even KNOW is there kind of makes it hard to sell gangbusters.

Are they still using that awful new shipping system? I just ordered a couple more discs and they shipped out the other day using USPS First class. So maybe they are dropping it.

EXACTLY....I believe most of these titles would sell over 3000 copies if they were more easily and readily accessible to purchase.

Wrong...they haven't sold more because in this economy no one is going to pay over $30 for one movie with hardly any extras when they see the regular studio releases being released at great prices, especially if they wait around the holidays for sales. They have a few I want but I won't pay it; not when there are so many other titles to buy yet at half the cost. You like to burn money; thats your choice.

Since when is the seller not responsible in retail no matter what the business? If Macys has a shirt made by Perry Ellis I bought and I get it home and find holes in it I'm blaming Macy's for selling it and bringing it back to them. Think like a consumer not like a movie fan.

There's a difference between an actual defective product and not liking the way a product is produced.

If Coke changed their formula again I'm not marching to Albertsons and venting my outrage on the employees there.

And even if it was a defective product, yes you would still take it back to the retailer and they would make it right either by refund/replacement/store credit but it's still not THEIR fault, it's the manufacturer. They would just send the defective product back to the manufacturer.

In the case of TT, as has been repeated ad infinitum, people complained, they apologized [to some degree] and offered refunds, so they made things right. I'm sure they then went back to Sony and kicked up a fuss behind the scenes.

So what it boils down to is, that NOTLD blu came out over a year ago and people are still making an issue out of it?

I believe someone previously posted that they spoke with SAE and they mentioned that the new shipping system wasn't working out as well as they had hoped and thus they would be going back to the old system.

Exactly. By making them available only through SA, they're effectively making the product unavailable. You have to be EXTREMELY interested on a title to even consider buying it. I bought EXPERIMENT IN TERROR because the OOP dvd is even more expensive than the blu-ray and SEXY BEAST because it includes both AR's but I would think it forever before upgrading something I had already bought on SD as the master wouldn't be a substantial improvement.

Doubtful. If anything, maybe they got a good laugh out of it.

Anyone else still not yet received shipping notification who ordered the Sinbad titles through TCM Shop?
I just sent them an email requesting cancellation.

Yes. Expect a pretty low-rent version on BD-25 with little to no extras. I have a few and most don't look much better than the DVD versions, as opposed to TT's releases, most of which which look fantastic. But it'll probably be $5, so you get what you pay for, I guess.

Isn't the reason for this primarily TT cherry picking releases with strong transfers?

I don't have many Mill Creeks, but I don't think a TT release of New York Stories would be appreciably better, would it?

not really. and Mill creek has some excellent encodes too. there's a lot of low end releases which are mediocre, but then again TT isn't some bed of roses.they usually have some very solid encodes, but few if any are revolutionary or anything

Since I didn't have a good reference personally with Mill Creek (always a good thing to post about) I just poked around for five minutes and found a bunch of 1080i and lossy sound discs.

So while New York Stories is a solid disc, but there appear to be several of Mills Creeks that are dogs.

If push comes to shove, I would rather pay 35 bucks for a solid disc, than 5 dollars for interlaced dolby digital sound.

Those shouldn't be the only choices though.
