Those shouldn't be the only choices though.
mostly because it's from the sources they got them from. check out there Sony titles that were shifted over. they're by far great because Sony gave them the masters just like they do for TT. Mill Creek's old crappier releases were just old crap that they picked up. there double features of Sony titles look as good if not better in some situations than the Sony individual releases. It's ALLL about where they source it from.

Mill Creek did well with Diamajin Trilogy. That's the only release I personally can atest to (off the top of my head). I think with them it varies more widely. They have more mediocre and junk quality overall - basically they are willing to take whatever the studio throws at them and release it for $5. Whereas Twilight Time seems to be a bit more choosy, and maybe working more closely with the studio to get a higher quality transfer.

Twilight Time has had a few snafu's, but at least in terms of the technical presentation - most of their releases have ranged from "very good", and some are outright excellent (i.e. basically as good as it could possibly get, even if Criterion were offering the film on blu-ray it wouldn't look any better). The thing Twilight Time lacks considering their pricing, is moreso in the "extras" department.

My memory may be a bit rusty but I believe Nick Redman mentioned once before that he knows, or is good friends with, Grover Crisp which might explain why they get the titles they get.

pre-orders go live today at 4 et. for Jan titles--

KHARTOUM (1966)

ZULU (1963)

TITUS (1999)

MAN IN THE DARK (1953) 3D

my big question is is the Zulu bd going to be the same transfer as the previously released UK bd?
Has TT addressed this?
anyone know?
while that bd was light years beyond the dvd, it did have way too much dnr.
wonder if they can get the same transfer minus the detail robbing dnr?
that would make me pay for another copy of Zulu.
I just don't see pre-ordering that title until I get some type of info regarding the actual disc.

According to N. Redmen via there Facebook feed this would not be the same transfer that Paramount used for there U.K. release. The way it was worded gave me the impression that the transfer they were given pre-dated the Paramount transfer. But also speculated that it was less processed and had a more film like look to it. Guess we'll find out once the disc is out.

interesting.
well thanks for the info.
kind of a shame it's not a newer transfer because, outside of the dnr, the Paramount bd does have a lot going for it.
guess we'll know soon enough.

I wouldn't worry. Unless you are going for the autographed disc you can wait, none of these are going to sell out on the first day.

Got Titus. I am happy. I haven't seen it since the release at theaters in 1999 so I am looking forward to seeing it again.
