I ordered my copies of the Sinbad films on the 23rd, along with a few other items. The shipping on SAE's site still says "pending" and I'm getting concerned. Is this normal for everyone else???

Sadly, in my experience, this has become the norm for SAE's shipping. I ordered the Lethal Weapon soundtrack set and it seemed like it took forever to ship. That "pending" notification mocks you after a while. I'm willing to wait. I just wish they would give more information on why the wait. I've been ordering from them for years and it used to take a week to 10 days. The past few times I've placed orders it's taken almost a month to ship! And this is on items they have "in stock". I guess amazon has spoiled me a bit.

What are those other items and are any of them backordered or preordered? If yes then your order is being held up because of those items.

I have it and like it. It offers great detail and clarity. People say the original DVD release has more accurate colors to it's theatrical presentation and looks more like how a 1940's technicolor musical should look. The colors are definitely darker, but I don't think it's bad. I took some DVD caps and matched them with some of the blu-ray caps from this sites review for comparison.

Blu-ray looks WAY more accurate: people aren't generally pink.

The other two items aside from the Sinbad films are:
Doctor Who 50th Anniversary (4CD)
The Rains of Ranchipur (Twilight Time

If one of those is backordered, does that means that they will not try to assemble my order until those are in stock (thus losing the chance to get the Sinbad films)?

And who is this "Ed" fellow that one user refers to? Bit of a noob here.

Assuming those caps are representative of the discs as wholes, that blu-ray is a HUGE upgrade as far as I'm concerned. It's not even close, and I'm including the color in that opinion.

No, if you've ordered it, it counts as a copy less of their stock. So you'll definitely get it once all your ordered items are ready.

Ed works for Screen Archives, but don't bother to email or you'll get a terse reply and it'll make you feel like you've done something wrong.

Ed owns screenarchives.com. He'll most likely answer your email or phone call.

Eds always been good to me. Even if you just fire him a quick email asking for an update at least if the response is something like "We still have your order" you'll have SOMETHING to go on rather than waiting and not knowing.

From the TT Facebook page
Quote:
SAE reports that there are fewer than 400 copies remaining of "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad" - and less than 700 copies remaining of "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger" -- if you are still on the fence about these two, the time is now to decide!

I've posted multiple comments about the COVER GIRL Blu-ray and I'm reluctant to repeat myself.

Here's the short version ...

I really like the Blu-ray. People have become so used to over-brightened DVDs that they often think Blu-rays are dark. I don't trusts DVDs as a source of accuracy...not do I trust people who tell me, "...this is what it looked like theatrically 70 years ago".

Got the Blu-ray and I'm happy I got it. Not reference material but a darn nice viewing.

I'm in the same boat, apparently. I placed a single order at the end of December: pre-orders for two Jan. 21 releases and two films that have been available for quite some time and are in stock. My order still says "pending," and I haven't received any shipping notification. If I understand this correctly, I'm going to have to wait for all four of them to ship at once?

As Brad mentioned once you've ordered a copy it's reserved for you but SAE makes you wait until all items are in stock before shipping out the order. They won't partially ship an order.

Correct, SAE makes you wait until all items are in stock and won't partially ship an order. They make you place multiple orders if you don't want to wait for preorders/backorders.

The least they could do is make it clear that this is their policy. While I'm grateful for your response, it's frustrating to have to find out from someone other that the company itself about what amounts to a significant delay in shipping.

Spanky, thank you for taking the time to do the screencaps. I decided to buy the blu-ray after seeing those stills.
