The manufacturers probably stuck them with those cases without them realizing it and as soon as they opened a few of them up, they noticed the ecos and asked the manufacturers to stop using them. They addressed the issue pretty quick, like, the day people started receiving them, so it's not like they were blind to it for a while.

Definitely, man; if you pay $30 for a Blu-ray you shouldn't get an Eco. Sheesh.
And if you're reading, Nick, maybe some artwork on the back of the insert? (Proud owner of 4 TT titles. Will be 5 in April.) Last edited by Kristian Idol; 02-07-2014 at 05:48 AM. |

Same here. I've never received one either, but I'm not sure they have any left or maybe they just aren't doing them anymore.

They claimed that they weren't behind the decision to use the eco cases, and were going to make sure it didn't happen again. So assuming they stick to their word, they shouldn't be. |

There is one particular online company (won't say who) which usually has some of the Twilight Time magnets for sale. The Fright Night one was originally going for about $10, but have recently seen it being sold for more than double! |

I got a magnet in one of my orders, must have been last year some time, it was for the soundtrack to the Adventures of Don Juan, so the magnets aren't necessarily for TT releases.

OK, that's pretty bad taste, but surely it's worse if you said the same thing about Steel Magnolias... |

Re eco cases, "It's just the silliest imaginable two-bit way to cut corners. It essentially saves the tiniest, tiniest imperceptible fraction of a penny while offering less protection for the product."
The savings on shipping if any would be due to less weight. But the volume is the same and the weight of regular cases isn't much to begin with. Shipping savings, and fuel savings must be negligible and barely measurable. I thought the point of eco cases was using less plastic, but this is a fallacy. Many people throw away eco cases and substitute a regular case, thereby increasing plastic usage. The point of eco cases is for companies to give the impression of being environmentally conscious, even though it ends up causing more harm. I'm sure there are consumers who get the warm fuzzies with eco cases, even though they can be harmful to the product. Very much like synthetic fuel. Last edited by kaseaver; 02-07-2014 at 02:48 PM. |

As I posted some time ago, BD cases are made of polypropylene (this info is available online). The annual worldwide usage of polypropylene is over 50 million metric tons. So anybody who thinks there is any actually ecological benefit to Eco Cases is delusional. Eco Cases do as much good for the environment as holding in one cow fart does for global warming ![]() But the name "Eco Case" has the warm fuzzy, new-age, do-gooder stylish sound that has a certain shallow appeal. |
