It's going to be part of TCM's Easter lineup (if that's of any use to you).

That is excellent news! I hope TT at least considers it for the future.

Was there a magnet for Demetrius or Bite the Bullet?

no there were not.
I really hope TT is not abandoning the magnets because though trivial, they are still unique to TT and I actually wish they would do them for all the releases.
for the price people pay for these bds surely that's not unreasonable imo, and for all the posts people make about them you would think they would get that they are popular. (duh)
C'mon TT people--I know you are reading this--make it happen!

As the newest member of PFTPOTBM, I can say, without reservation, that TT's magnets are magnetic.

Well, I really do not mind the shipping costs.. We all need for TT to make a profit so they can continue to release quality movies on Blu-ray. However, perhaps free shipping on two or perhaps three titles would motivate some buyers to purchase more.

SAE's magnets (they make 'em, not TT). I propose a support group for owners of dying magnets.

First it was Fright Night peeling apart, now it's Pal Joey. The others seem okay so far.

You will all want to join sooner or later

I wouldn't mind the shipping cost if I lived in America too. But to deliver to Australia they require an extra $15 or $20 for registered post and they state that if you don't pay that, they won't replace your order if it gets lost. Shipping ends up coming to about $40.

I understand it since there are people out there who take advantage of the system and say things got lost even if they turn up (i've seen people on this site who proudly admit they do it almost every time they order from amazon and end up with two of everything), it all just ends up being really quite expensive.

Yes, shipping to Australia is pricey, so I usually wait until I have a couple of movies before ordering from SAE, and even then it winds up around $90 for two BDs. But there's really no other option if you want these movies. This means you have to be a bit more choosy of what you order from SAE.

As for the magnets, I suggest that SAE do away with them and come up with something else that makes the BDs more collectible. I propose that each BD come in a digibook, which has a steel cover, wrapped in a slipcover which is magnetized. A "Magnadigisteelbook" (patent pending). That should guarantee collectibility

"You can toss those suckers at any appliance from 15 feet and they will stick...the enamel on your fridge door will peel off before a Magnadigisteelbook will! Available for a limited time only from SAE and TT!"

Twilight Time would get a new breed of clientele and more sales if they added slipcovers to their releases.

I agree, that's why I proposed the Magnadigisteelbook. Why let a limited-release well-presented movie be the main attraction? What's so collectible about a 3,000 run premium-priced quality movie? Seems pretty short sighted if you ask me. Focus on the gimmicks I say. And what better gimmick than one which incorporates all other gimmicks into one handy case? The Magnadigisteelbook, ask for it wherever blu-rays are sold.

If TT are reading this thread, please contact me ASAP as I can work out a volume licensing deal on the Magnadigisteelbook.

Personally, I would much rather have just the movie with a good PQ and preferrably with an isolated soundtrack. The liner notes are always great, too. I wouldn't really feel there's much need for slipcovers or anything.

But if enough people ask for "special packaging", and TT were inclined to oblige, well, I guess there's nothing wrong with that, either.

That's crazy talk! Without a slipcover a BD case is naked!

On a serious note, at first I used to agree with you. I figured "How can slipcases and digibooks and so forth actually hurt anyone. For those that like collecting them, it's a harmless hobby." Then I realized that this has become a diversion tactic for studios, and it does not bode well at all. Nowadays we'll get sometimes two or three releases of the same exact transfer of a movie, with the only difference being a change of packaging. So instead of focusing their money and effort on releasing a new transfer, they use cheap smoke and mirrors to make an older product seem new, and because sadly people will sometimes go out and buy the same exact movie again just for the new "special" packaging, (or worse still, think it a new version of the movie), it works to a large degree.

So joking aside, I personally do not want TT to go anywhere near digibooks, steelbooks, slipcovers, variant covers, etc. Every cent spent on these gimmicks either slightly reduces the profitability for TT, or increases the cost to us, or both. TT is right on the money at the moment: quality movies (although I would argue Demetrius is a borderline "should not have released" case), in a standard BD case with a stylish sleeve, and as an added bonus well-written liner notes.

I should also add that I hate the "mix and match" look that all these various packaging formats give to BDs sitting on a shelf. My Commancheros and An Affair to Remember digibooks - the only two digibooks I reluctantly bought to obtain these movies early - stick out like sore thumbs in my collection. So does my Alien Anthology (UK) digipack box. I prefer a nice even row of little blue cases, which do the job of presenting and protecting the movie perfectly

Of course my Magnadigisteelbook idea will revolutionize all of this - stay tuned.
