Glad to hear this. I've got that Royal Flash promo thing and 4 other discs coming (soon???) so I was curious.

My Zulu disc in it's oh so sturdy and protective eco case made its way to me in France, last week. Luckily it arrived in perfect condition as I had mailed Screen Archives before shipment asking if they could pack it securely due to the eco case. They didn't ship in a box, but the case was wrapped with two layers of bubble wrap and then it was put in a bubble wrap mailer.

So you can just mail them when you place an order, or better still, fill out the special requests box when you complete your order.

Edited after I saw your reply: If they haven't shipped, mail them.

What's the best way to buy a TT to bluray? Is there ever any sales or are they available somewhere else? $67 shipped for 2 barebones discs @ screenarchives.com

The only other venue is the TCM (Turner Classic Movies) Shop, and you'd end up paying more there than at Screen Archives.

Other than that, there's only the second-hand market (Amazon Marketplace sellers, eBay, and so on) where you're likely to spend even more.

I've been thinkin' about gettin' my very first Twilight Time release. I'm weighing in on Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, since I heard small but loud praises about it. Is it the kind of title that'll sold out quickly? I want to take the time to see it in full first before deciding to pay it in full.

I thought it was going to sell out fast but it has not yet. They still havent shipped yet to my knowledge. I blind bought it because I heard it was good and wanted to see it. I also thought The Driver would sell out fast also. I think since it is getting a UK release you have some time to order it.

I also blind bought it because I thought it would sell quickly. "Quickly", though, is apparently a relative term. I don't doubt that this title will sell out before the 3 year window is over, but it might take around a year or so for that to happen. I imagine a slightly faster rate of sell-out than The Driver, which was down below 1000 already. (Hard to say anything more now that the cart game has been disabled).

Because of the limited numbers, TT titles hold their value well. I actually sold one that I had bought on e-Bay. It was still available for $30 at SAE, but after starting bidding at $9.99, it ended up selling for $45. So, my point is that if you were to just blind buy from TT and don't like it, you could very likely recoup your money by reselling.

T&L IS a great movie though.

I heard that Thunderbolt and Lightfoot was a buddy buddy road movie about bank robbery and Jeff Bridges gives an amazing performance and has great chemistry with Eastwood. I only own two other TT movies The Driver and Night of the Living Dead. They do not release many movies I would pay $35 dollars for often. This just seemed like a movie I would like.

Also Used Cars and The Blob I am super excited about and will be preordering day one.

Thunderbolt’s once-sterling reputation seems to have fallen victim alongside Michael Cimino’s career. It’s become one of the less-remembered films from the days when Clint Eastwood ruled the box-office yet it holds up as one of the best pictures of its decade, managing the neat trick of both delivering what the audience wants and subverting their expectations at the same time. Eastwood plays a crook on the run from ex-partners in crime George Kennedy and Geoffrey Lewis (often hysterically funny here) who teams up with Jeff Bridges' extrovert drifter to retrieve the loot from a previous robbery only to find his old accomplices tagging along and things – naturally – not going at all to plan. It’s an almost perfectly judged mixture of comedy and action with both feet firmly on the ground despite the more absurd moments in a way that would be almost unthinkable today. There's a real rapport between the outstanding cast and an affection for the characters that adds to the impact of the very Seventies ending – not only is the central pairing of Eastwood’s old hand and Bridges’ cocksure kid far more convincing and genuinely affecting than it has any right to be, but Kennedy and Lewis’ untrustworthy partners in crime are beautifully drawn too.

Cimino handles the mood swings adeptly and even injects a subtle undercurrent of sexual ambiguity that never gets in the way of the entertainment. While his direction is bang on target - there’s a great use of mid-Western landscape too - it’s the strength of his script that keeps the film surprisingly fresh today. It’s basically a road movie crossed with a heist movie, but Cimino throws in so many unexpected and quirky left turns that catch you off guard that you never get the feeling that you’re going over the same old ground. This was a terrific movie in 1974, and if anything it's an even better one today. Just remember; never accept a lift from a man with a raccoon in the passenger seat and a trunk full of bunnies!

Great summary, makes me smile remembering a film I grew up with. For me, Kennedy was terrific. It's been a while since I've seen this and I do hope the people who weren't around in the day appreciate this 70's classic.

Yes they usually announce the pre-order date on Facebook, so they should be announcing the next pre-order date soon.

They're usually 25 days in advance. The release date for the next batch of titles is March 10th, which would mean pre-orders should go up this Wednesday (the 12th).

Is "All the King's Men" likely to sell out? It's "noir-ish", and I know how us catalog collectors love our film-noir.

I am going to say no with on this one because I don't think it has anyone in it with star quality so Its not a necessity for me personally

I could be wrong

could someone please tell me the reason why most titles are 29.95 but a select few are 34.95 I never noticed before. and yes I do remember reading somewhere that in the beginning of TT the prices were higher and then all titles were decreased to the 29.95 price

I avoided this movie when it first came out (and ever since), as it seemed just too much a heavily commercial pop film from the trailers and TV spots, but your review makes me seriously consider adding it to my next Twilight Time order (if it's still available, as I tend to order every two or three months to save shipping costs).
