Yea, when I first saw his signature, I found it pretty hilarious for some reason. Maybe just because it's Malcolm McDowell. I did, however, look up images of his signature, and that is pretty much how he always signs his name. Almost always just "Malcolm" in wavy lines.

People get all arty with the spine, making it difficult to locate a film on a shelf. When they use the logo, or some tiny font to look "creative" - it makes it very difficult to locate films. This is particularly an issue with Blu-rays as they are so thin. I wish all discs were uniform like this, to be honest. A good half my Blu's are so over-designed on the spine I can't send anyone over to grab a Blu because they are so difficult to read, and I can only do it myself because I'm familiar with what I am looking for to begin with. |

My order has not shipped either. I got all the Feb releases. This makes the 7th month in a row my order has not shipped until after release day. I cut SAE slack and have been forgiving due to weather delays, late title arrivals, and am appreciative of how quickly they abandoned their recent unpopular shipping experiment, put order limits on certain popular titles, and how well they respond to customer requests. But damn, do I ever miss a year ago when nearly all of my orders arrived on release day or a day after. So many months in a row of not shipping until after release day is becoming irritating.

My order is still listed as pending as well:
Royal Flash (autographed) Crimes and Misdemeanors The Front Thunderbolt and Lightfoot The Disappearance It would've been cool to have them on or before release date, but as long as they ship within a week or so and arrive in good condition, I'm not sweating it. |

![]() ![]() I watched KHARTOUM for the first time on Monday night, and the picture quality is truly spectacular. Not only is it one of TT's best-looking discs but I'd say it's one of the best HD transfers of movies old or new. This is something that really shows when projected ten feet wide and sitting about six feet away! I just wish my screen was eleven feet wide for the UltraPanavision image so I wouldn't have to letterbox it on my 4-foot-tall screen. The audio is very good, even if it's a 2-channel mix that needs to be decoded for surround, center, and subwoofer information (and not all a/v receivers will process DTS-HD MA track into a "Dolby Pro-logic" effect). It's nice that all the original overture, intermission, entr'acte, and exit music are also included, although I do wish they'd left off the titles identifying them as such and simply let the music run over a black screen. I guess too many home videophiles who've never heard of "road shows" or movie theatres with drapes that actually opened and closed would be convinced that the picture was missing. As for the movie itself, I actually liked it at least as much and possibly even more than LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, which it somewhat resembles at times. It's also eerily timely with today's world political situation, especially in Egypt. Charlton Heston's British accent may come and go at times, but his performance easily ranks among his best and most nuanced. The whole cast is great in a well-made big-scale epic that Hollywood just doesn't do anymore (at least not without tons of CGI sets and crowd scenes). Anybody with a projection setup who likes historical epics really needs this beautiful-looking Blu-ray of KHARTOUM. One of these nights I'll need to sit down and watch it with the entire audio commentary. |
