I sent a e-mail last night got a reply this morning. Ordered Blue Max & Eddy Duchin on the day preorders went up. They said snowstorm was backing things up. They would resume shipping in a few days.

I would consider the snowstorm a "transit time" issue and...as I mentioned in another thread, I don't hold them responsible for that.

However, I do expect my order to be packed and have postage applied.

For 99% of all companies, "shipped" means just that: they pack your order and apply postage. If the Post Office can't get it out of town, that's a separate problem.

As I continue to see "Pending" (I just checked both my email and my account at SAE), I'm getting frustrated by the lack of movement inside the company. I'm already reading posts from people who've watched the same movie that I pre-ordered. I understand it will take longer to reach me...I've done this before with over a dozen Twilight Time Blu-rays so I'm no newbie...but I want to see my order at least reach the starting line.

Yes, this customer service situation at SAE has to be addressed by Twilight Time. The weather is not a legitimate excuse for preorders of discs that were released on Tuesday of this week and that were actually shipping on Monday. The weather did not adversely affect the east coast until Wednesday.

I preordered Thunderbolt and Lightfoot and The Blue Max on the 5th and that order is still pending as of today. I have seen multiple posts from people that ordered later than the 5th, even as late as Sunday that were shipped on Monday. That's just incompetent. No other word for it.

Did you look at the first posting in this thread? It gives the release date for announced titles. Pre-orders are generally 3-4 weeks before the release date.

Gotta love that "pending" status. I wonder what's up with SAE? It takes about a month now for me to receive an item from them. I've imported stuff from other countries with quicker results.

Hah! I just came to this forum with the exact same sentiment. These last couple of preorders have made me really irritated in their backwards policy of seemingly fulfilling the most recent orders first, rather than going in the order received. And also I agree with an earlier poster -- they seem to hide behind the weather a lot, but these weather events happen a day or two after they should have already shipped the package. These aren't weather delays but delays in house at SAE.

Or SAE couldn't get them to the post office.

Oh no...not at all .

Fact is, I was fine with things right through Wednesday. When I saw people reporting shipping notices on Monday, I thought, "That's good, my notice should come Tuesday". When I saw another user sent an email to SAE on Wednesday because his shipment was pending, I thought, "Give it a rest...it's only a day late."

By Thursday evening, my patience was wearing thin. That's when I made my first comment here on the situation.

Now it's Friday night so this week is a lost cause.

But I've confined my expression of displeasure to two threads here at Blu-ray.com.

Crazy. Thanks for these pics. Great context. Picture's worth a thousand . . . "Big" enough to get major studio business. Small enough to be hauling orders to the p.o. in someone's personal vehicle . . . with a little Tupperware of peanuts or some such on the front seat floorboards. LOL.

Just watched Titus last week.

SAE is a very small company that does a lot of things manually. No automation here.

My Blu-ray of Thunderbolt and Lightfoot arrived this afternoon, complete with a sturdy Amaray case instead of the eco-case that Man in the Dark was housed in. I watched the movie this evening, and am now watching it again with the commentary track as I post.

File this one under good old 1970s movies that they just don't make anymore. It's a beautiful "road trip" movie with a reckless abandon that graced many movies of the era before political correctness and glossy overproduction started to take precedence. Watching Thunderbolt and Lightfoot conjures imaginings of an America that does not exist anymore, where people felt safe hitchhiking rides from strangers, where drive-in theaters were prevalent, and where sprawling rural landscapes were unblemished by chain shopping malls or cell phone towers.

It's amazing how ubiquitous Geoffrey Lewis was in cinema and television shows of the 1970s, and he co-starred with Clint Eastwood in quite a few other films.

Watching Clint Eastwood and George Kennedy in action together makes me want to revisit The Eiger Sanction. I really hope that film lands on Blu-ray at some point.

I just laughed out loud while watching the commentary track during the scenes with Catherine Bach. One of the historians quotes, "Catherine Bach had huge billing in this movie." The vocal inflections in the sentence made me think of the king in Monty Python and the Holy Grail who says, "She has huge...tracts of land."

I'm in the same boat as Dex. I was patient at first, but it's Friday, and I've received no shipping notice. Order is still pending. SAE is the only company I know of who penalizes customers who buy products on the first pre-order date. They always have an excuse, but they never explain why they don't ship out based on when someone orders. Why have i been consistently at the bottom of the queue when I order within 2 minutes of the items going on pre-order. Snow and postal holidays are not responsible for that.

My sentiments are the same as yours. No shipping notice today either. Seven straight months of this. I really appreciate that they put limits on popular titles (that is SAE doing that, not TT) and their willingness to accomodate reasonable requests. Trying not to be too critical since I know my order will ship. But.....damn. I got in early enough to get a signed Royal Flash. I think since I ordered all five February releases, the late arrival of The Blue Max (or so I read) must have meant the large order customers got pushed back and then the snow storm delayed things further. But the weather can't account for having so many months in a row of late shipping for me.

Chris@SAE used to post here from time to time. Nice fella. Wish he'd make an appearance but I am afraid he would be bombed with negative posts. It would just be good to get some explanation of their shipping policies. Maybe larger orders go last even if they came in early? Distance from Virgina ships later?

I do believe some of the titles are getting to them late, and it seems to be happening more and more frequently. They can't help that. I am sure they are working hard to make up for the late orders, same as they did last month. Still, a three day weekend and for once I am free to watch movies to my heart's content.....and no The Blue Max or Thunderbolt and Lightfoot.

Fans of Geoffrey Lewis here may not be aware, but he had a unique 'band' in the 80s. I first saw them on the revived Smothers Brothers Show. For it, Geoffrey would tell original stories with a couple keyboardists providing musical accompaniment. There were some exceptional pieces there. Most are still available as CDs (still so desirable, some of them, used, still are nearly the cost of new copies). The band's name was Celestial Navigations.

Just a Geoffrey Lewis 'heads up' there.

First CD:
