I'm not concerned about transit time...I just want my order out the door. I can wait a couple of weeks for it to get here but I don't want to wait a couple of weeks for it to leave SAE (and I just checked both my email and my SAE account. Still pending). |

Just placed an order for The Front. I've been on an Allen kick lately and am trying to snatch up all the BD releases he has. I'm about to start buying up the Region A imports from Amazon. (Unless someone knows where they can be had for a cheaper price).

I've had pretty good luck...pre-ordered The Blue Max back in January. Received shipping notice email last Tuesday, arrived on Friday. Ordered Thunderbolt and Lightfoot last Tuesday, received shipping notice email on Wednesday, arrived on Saturday. All in all, a good experience.

but I guess if someone put a gun to my head I'd probably choose Jane Eyre strictly because of the actors involved and the overall quality of the film. (I'm a sucker for 40's melodrama) you can probably narrow it down depending on your preference for that type of film vs. a technicolor western. then vs. Bonjour tristesse which is certainly very different from either of the other 2. If you look at it from a critics point of view certainly Bonjour Tristesse would be considered the lesser film among the 3. Drums along the mohawk is probably the most acclaimed overall of the 3. . Is Bonjour Tristesse going to sell out soon? I'm planning to order it on Wednesday when I order All the King's Men and Being Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia.
I've been on an Otto Preminger kick lately, having bought the Blu-rays of Laura, River of No Return, and Anatomy of a Murder, as well as the DVDs of a bunch of his film noirs, like Fallen Angel, Angel Face, Where the Sidewalk Ends, Daisy Kenyon, and Whirlpool. I've read a couple of reviews stating that Bonjour Tristesse is Preminger's masterpiece, but I'm hard-pressed to imagine any of his film being better than Laura. Still, this is good enough for inspire a blind buy out of me. |

Amazon Japan You would have to do the math on shipping and exchange rate from Amazon Japan, but when I purchased mine last year they came out to less that $20 a title, for an order of 5 or 6 blus shipped. The Japans also have lossless audio vs the Swedish Dolby Digital. The one Swedish Allen disc that I do have, is pretty anemic audiowise. I would still suggest doing your research for the individual titles you are looking for, though. |

Just a heads up for those of you in the US who don’t watch much over the air DTV or haven’t done a channel scan in a while and want to preview some of the classic Columbia/Sony films TT releases. Check if GetTV is available in your area. They launched earlier this months and play many of these old Columbia/Sony films. Often in their OAR too. They aired The Man From Laramie today and they air Bell Book and Candle, Pal Joey and The Eddy Duchin Story all later this week.

All are excellent films. Personally, I'd pick them up in this order: Drums Along the Mohawk (I'm a John Ford junkie), Jane Eyre, and Bonjour Tristesse.
