Rollerball has always been a favourite of mine from the five or six times I seen it on it's original cinema release to it's various VHS & DVD releases over the years. So a must have for me also.

It was one of the first movies I recorded on Betamax from a TV airing.

Did you return them? Send a letter to Fox stating that you had to return multiple discs because eco-cases resulted in a defective product that you could not accept?

Until people routinely do so: contacting the companies that USE these and making sure to report to them that they are receiving the entire package (case, art, book [if any], and disc) as defective because of an eco-case being inadequate protection, they won't pay the extra 1-2¢ per to use sturdier cases. Reporting it to the retailer (even if a part of Fox) isn't enough to bring it to the attention of those making the decisions on what cases to use.

No, I didn't, and I won't. Quite frankly, I want these movies, and I got them for a great price (about $8 apiece), so I'd still make out well if I just bought replacement cases. Which I will do.

I certainly wouldn't return them and ask for new copies, because they'd probably arrive just as damaged. The only other option -- if I want the movies -- is to buy them at local brick'n'mortar stores (assuming I could find them anywhere local) -- and I'd end up paying considerably more for them. Not really a sensible option.

I will email FoxConnect to tell them the problem, and that I'm displeased. That may have no effect, maybe it will. Who knows? Maybe they'll send me replacement cases for free. Maybe they'll pester Cinram to ship with better protection.

This is actually the second time I've ordered from FoxConnect. The first time, I got the two Elia Kazan collections, which were in 4-disc Elite cases in slipcases. Those arrived in perfect shape. If memory serves, they were in padded boxes.

Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.

I don't intend to roll over for any company that I do business with.

It's perfectly reasonable to expect that orders be delivered in a timely fashion and in packaging which protects the contents during the shipping process (and thumbs up to Twilight Time for dumping eco cases). These are fair demands. Companies selling discs aren't charities. They are commercial concerns taking money in exchange for goods and services.

I'm tired of the dim-witted, internet platitudes like "first world problem"and "Western entitlement".

People have every right to question the quality of goods and services that they have bought and paid for.

Sadly, that is my experience with most Blus I order which come in eco-cases. It is amazing how easily they crack and disintegrate.

In other news I got an e-mail that my last order I put in for TT Blus has shipped. The other order is not going anywhere anytime soon because it included two of the April pre-orders.

I'm not sure why it is with the eco-cases. In my experience, most case damage happens at the top and bottom of (and around) the spine, not on the front and back faces. Unless the flexing of the faces caused by the missing plastic causes torque stress on the spine.

Have to agree with this. I know these are growing pains and TT did listen to the customers about the eco cases, but the shipping delays are a serious problem and have gotten more pronounced the bigger the company has become. "Release date" is a fairly meaningless term for them now, and their policy (as observed here by people's reports of their shipping and purchasing dates) of shipping orders by FILO instead of FIFO ought to be changed. When we have to wait as long as we do for things to ship, we should be paying media mail shipping prices, since that's approximately the speed they're being delivered. I have bought a ton from them, especially after this last sale (which I greatly appreciated, even if my wallet did not), but my patience is wearing thin about the delays, which should not be occurring so regularly given the prices for this product.

In other news, I finally watched my copy of Enemy Mine which I bought before it sold out. I had been on the fence about that one, since it was a movie I remember liking as a kid, but not loving. I still feel the same way about the story, but I feel like it's held up well. There's a little bit of hokeyness, and the occasional awful line (the villain's "Hey, I remember you.
[Show spoiler]You killed my brother Johnny
") but the acting's overall quite good. I agree with the reviewer here that Louis Gossett, Jr. managed to emote very well despite the heavy latex and makeup. The picture was beautiful, with only a couple light flickers or occasional halos. Audio was clear. I watched this with my husband, a linguist, and he enjoyed the Drac language with all its uvular trills. I'm happy with this purchase--it has good replay value.

Then don't buy their product.

All you people do is piss and moan about anything instead of simply... wait for it... Buy different movies. So you don't like a mom and pop operation that's clearly going through growing pains. Instead you want to have your cake and eat it too.

If you don't like TT stop buying heir product. But buying in order to complain is childish. 100% childish. And that's what you and others are in regards to this subject.

Since they are only source for many of the products they sell, that crap answer you gave, then do not buy it is crap and does not apply, in fact twilight time is using that to screw over people because they know the consumer has no other purchase option

let a company get away with something and they will continue to get away it. our job as consumers is to be the giant wall that they either crash upon and perish or learn to appease.

they are trying to EARN our money, not the other way around
