Just received my very first Twilight Time blu-ray. Been meaning to own one for some time, even if this particular film (Sexy Beast) won't be a high-seller like certain others.

Well it took 7 hours for Christine to sell out, I didn't get home until 2 hours after the pre-order went live and had no problem getting a copy.

So, they have them on their shelves before mine has usually shipped? Doesn't that seem a little bit like special treatment? Supply the scalpers first? I've always been happy with Twilight Time, never complain about the shipping, prices, blah blah blah. BUT if that's true, that does piss me off quite a bit.

If you pre-order from SAE, you will usually receive it before the actual street date.

Ive preordered from them almost every month for over a year and can only think of once or twice out of probably 10 orders that I had my titles before or even on release day. I guess some people do get them early though? Its not going to keep me from ordering in the future, but scalping just really pisses me off. I know its just part of how it all works...anyhow rant over.

Not anymore. That hasn't happened in months, at least for me.

I only pre-order the genre stuff (Night Of The Living Dead, Christine/The Fury, and Body Double), and received all of them a few days ahead of street date if I recall correctly. I've got Used Cars coming this time around.

For what it's worth, I think Amoeba only carries one copy of each title. I only took a quick look (I was walking past and noticed Mindwarp sticking out in front) and I didn't see any doubles. I think they just have them for completest sake. They have a huge selection, lots of rare titles. At $39.99, they aren't making huge profits off these.

Plus, they do have discounts / coupons. If you find a brochure stand in Los Angeles, you'll probably find a flyer for them with a coupon for $3 off your purchase of $5 or more.

Saw Sexy Beast. Not quite sure what to think of it, because the tone kinda goes all the place. Not to say it's weird or complex at all. It can be intense when it wants to be, but Sir Ben Kingsley, even though I can see why he's the show-stealer of the film, serves as a huge distraction for me. If I'm suppose to take him seriously, then his hyperbolics threw that idea out the window.

But that's just me. It's a oddly-directed movie, but again, it did eventually keep me in the edge of my seat, so I didn't feel like it was a miss (especially for my first Twilight Time buy).

hahaha I remember skating down to the Amoeba in SF Haight & Ashbury and seeing the same idiots do that noobies!

Kingsley is just awesome in Sexy Beast! I just got this as well and yes the tone can take some getting used too. But it does hold up to repeat viewings. It's a great and fresh take on the heist genre.

How long does it take screen archives to ship?
I ordered Alfredo Garcia last monday and it still hasnt shipped and its driving me insane.
This is ridiculous?
is this normal procedure for them?

This i was my first Twilight Time title purchase but I might just cancel soon because waiting more than a week for a title to ship is extremely unprofessional and lazy to me

I'm sure the other people who order frequently from Twilight Time can give you a better idea, but I just made my first two orders from them and here's how long they took:

Order #1 - All the King's Men (Pre-Order) & Steel Magnolias - Ordered on March 7th - Shipped on March 20th - Received on March 22nd

Order #2 - Experiment in Terror & The Other (During the sale) - Ordered on March 19th - Shipped on March 26th - Received on March 29th

Order #1 took longer due to the All the King's Men pre-order and them switching out the cases. If I were to gamble, I'd say a week to process seems par for the course for them. Again, I'm sure those who order more often can refute that assumption, but I am extremely happy with how quickly you get the item once it does ship.

Amoeba had about 4 copies of Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia. I ended up buying one of the copies.

They seem to be going LIFO (Last In First Out) this time for my sales purchases.

But, not quite.

I ordered three times during the sale.

Order 2 was on the 22nd. Just got a shipment notification.

Order 1 was on the 21st and nothing yet.

Order 3 was on 23rd and nothing yet.

It's a grower. First time I saw it, I didn't know what to make of it at all, but it's turned into one of my all time favourite heist films. For my money, you're not supposed to take him seriously, he's a manifestation of the life Ray Winston was trying to leave behind.

Wow that is pretty crazy.
Just ordered a bunch from the SHout factory website and I received my order in about 46 hours after I placed it .

Is this one of those situations where its only a few people doing all the work or something because I have received orders from the UK that have taken far less time to get to me than TT

Ah, so Ben's being ridiculously hyperbolic on purpose. Learning the intent helps me try to gel with a film.

I'll certainly revisit it. Not so soon, though; I like to give it time to simmer.

You crap in the Twilight Time threads all the time without buying. Are you telling me that although you crap in the threads, you don't bother reading what other people post ? Obviously not.

Yes, for a moment now, one week is the AVERAGE wait time.
