False. I ordered six blu-rays and a CD, and my order is still pending.

They've shown a clear bias toward smaller and more recent orders first, just the opposite of one would expect from a shipping company that's priority-competent.

I think it is pretty obvious SAE ships out orders when each one is complete, which means when they have all the titles for the order "on the shelf". If one title holds up an order, they wait for it to arrive at their offices. This has been the case all along, even before TT increased their monthly release output. Meanwhile, they fulfill the orders they can to the best of the abilities of their small staff. I don't think it is a great mystery or anything. I am sure they have a system for the priority of orders going out the door for which they have stock and can fulfill on any given day. They would not have been in business for as long as they have been if they did not. And they have been a successful business for a long time.

I meant, WHEN they have all the titles available, THEN they seem to ship last and smaller orders first.

Their abilities then are very limited. It's not a great mystery that of the orders ready to be shipped, older orders should be processed first. I don't care how long they been in business. Sears has been in business for a long time too, but that doesn't speak much for their current level of customer service.

Oh, I wasn't saying that they do process the larger orders first. I was suggesting that that would've made the most sense, if they weren't doing it on a first-come-first-served basis. That's why I said "I would've imagined".

That's not obvious at all.

During a recent round of orders, several people with identical orders (myself included) had them shipped over a 10 day period with no rhyme or reason as to why some people were getting their discs shipped long before others with identical orders.

I think it's pretty obvious that SAE ships on a random basis with no regard for orders that were placed early.

I think it's also pretty obvious they dislike crotchety Winterpeggers, and automatically put them at the back of the line.

Not sure how many Twilight Time titles are duplicated by overseas releases. I'm aware of a handful (Zulu, As Good as it Gets, Sleepless in Seattle, Body Double, Mysterious Island... maybe a few I'm forgetting). There are options to consider importing on a few of the titles. But it's probably not even 10%. Not sure someone can legitimately say "screw Twilight Time, I'm just going to import". So for one to come into this thread and make that claim, basically has to be trolling anyway...(not referring to you, but the poster you quoted).
Hah well I wouldn't say I'm trolling. Just don't really want to give them my money and was expecting some people to answer saying they do both. Didn't really know where to post my initial comment and perhaps chose the wrong thread haha.

There's no doubt have chosen some wicked cover art for many releases and you've gotta like the inclusion of isolated scores and the extras (on more recent releases). But the whole thing is F-ed to say the least. I paid out the A$$ for many great/rare DVDs after they went out of print etc and never want to have to resort to doing that again with Blus. So far, so good. The titles that I would have wanted are the ones that sold out super fast. The limit imposed really leaves a lot of people who aren't able to obtain it with a bad taste in their mouth. Honestly, if the limit didn't exist, I'd likely purchase several titles at the 29.95 price point, or full on attack the website with the credit card during a sale.

Anyways, not trying to start any kind of brawl here! Just putting out an opinion.

It would be so easy for them to fix and meet customer expectations. Just push the release date back a week in order to allow for delays in getting product. People are just too used to Amazon standards in shipping near release dates, but I have also ordered blu-rays from Amazon and have been told that the title is back ordered at last minute also.

It makes no sense for people on these boards to complain, because delays are well documented here. I live in VA and they seem to ship to me last. They don't charge me till they ship the product and I have always received what I ordered. Do I wish I could get the product on the day they said it would release? Yes, but no sense in complaining, because I have not been charged till they shipped and I have always received the product.

So are you like this with all the companies you purchase from? People must love having you as a customer.

I have been waiting for Used Cars since it was announced a year ago. NOTLD is the only other TT title that I have been this excited about. I can wait an extra week. Same goes for The Blob. One week in delays is really not that bad. There is room for improvement but to expect Amazon shipping for everything is unrealistic. The number of Amazon employees versus the number of Screen Archives employees has got to look like a Ferrari racing a 1989 Toyota Corolla.

So what's your point, bigger is faster?

Amazon is the world leading online retailer with a top of the line website...in addition to billions in resources. SAE is small outfit, run by a few people, with an older website. The two operations are not comparable in any way, shape or form.

SAE is said to be are adding more resources and hopefully that will help. If it does not, then TT should look at additional distribution options (just my personal opinion). What is clear is that the current delays can be excused for a certain time, but it is something that should be rectified. I believe that the principals invilved are doing their best to fix the issues and it will take sometime. However, once again, this is something that should not remain "as is" .

Shipping delays hurt business as customers are less likely to make orders. High demand titles will still be bought, but routine and impulse orders will suffer. This is my opinion, but it is a very informed one based on education, experience and facts. Thus, TT is probably more motivated than us, the customers, to resolve these issues .

EDIT:

Twilight Time indicated that the delays with the new releases was not a problem with SAE, but due to their replicator, Cinram, not getting the discs pressed in time.
