Most of the reviews suggest that All the King's Men is dated and overwrought by today's standards, but I was personally enthralled by the story, and I like how this movie sheds light on a different angle of classic-era film noir. The movie is done big and done right, and they certainly don't make them like they used to.

This Blu-ray does not have any supplements, aside from the isolated score and the informative booklet, but we don't need any. This is a great high definition presentation of a black-and-white film.

Highly recommended!
Couldn't agree with ya more, great quality and a great film

That was one of the things that prompted my comment. I'm wondering if their licensing deals with Fox are coming to an end.

Of the nine films TT released on DVD, Violent Saturday is the third to be upgraded to Blu-ray. All nine of the DVD titles are from Fox. I'm curious to see if any of the others end up getting upgraded. At least one (John Huston's The Kremlin Letter) passed its 3-year expiration date a month ago. The others will be expiring over the course of the rest of this year.

The titles in question, along with their presumed expiration dates (three years from when the DVDs were released):

The Kremlin Letter (March 15)
Woman Obsessed (June 14)
The Flim-Flam Man (August 9)
My Cousin Rachel (September 13)
Stagecoach [1966] (October 11)
The Left Hand of God (November 8)

Nothing for me with this batch, which is OK. I could use a TT break. I guess we'll see preorders for The Blob on the next batch (September/October) and hopefully La Bamba will show up as well.

I bought My Cousin Rachel during the sale, but that's because I thought it too obscure for them to consider a Blu-ray reissue (but we'll see, it was only $10 anyway) and they probably have a bunch of DVDs left to sell (as evidenced by it being in the sale to begin with).

I do wonder though myself about their future relations with Fox. Maybe it was just a coincidence. TT did mention another studio coming on board, maybe it's to replace Fox?

Just watched a Fox movie, The Wayward Bus, that I enjoyed very much. Watched it again with the outstanding commentary and it made me appreciate the movie even more and the reasons behind its shortcomings. I highly recommend this one.

Same. If Sony doesn't want to release their catalog titles themselves then they should be unloading tons of titles to Twilight Time. Sony Pictures Classics has plenty of movies that could be released through TT not to mention Columbia and or TriStar titles. More genre films, more horror films. I usually end up getting the most excited over Sony titles released through TT.

Sony's remastering schedule might be a factor. These days studios are more interested in creating hi-def masters primarily for TV than home video, so, with the biggest titles at the head of the queue and going out via Sony themselves there could well be periods when the other titles they're remastering aren't very appealing for BD. Sometimes it's a matter of waiting for the best master material to be available, and since TT don't have the resources to remaster titles themselves, they have to wait until the studio has a decent master.

At least when it's a Sony release you don't have to be too concerned over the transfer. The others have been fairly iffy in my experience.

August Fox title still to be announced. There is a legal issue still to be worked out. TT decided not to hold up the announcements so they announced what they could.

When you finish watching the film, please tell me the how the video transfer is.
I won't be getting it until Wednesday, and I'm anxious to know what the transfer is like.

Will do but I must warn you I have only ever seen the film on VHS back in the day so I don't really have anything to compare it to. I will either like it or I won't.

I'm on a somewhat similar boat, the only way I saw Wild at Heart was the MGM dvd released back in 04.

Same.

I actually e-mailed them because I know a lot of orders have been shipped / received, and they told me that my order should be shipping soon.

In other news, my copy of "Alfredo Garcia" arrived today after ordering it at the end of last week.

Mine, too. But since mine includes three sale titles, I suspect that at least one of those is holding things up.

my order included no sale items, and was placed the second the pre-orders went on sale, and I have received no shipping notice.
pretty much business as usual as far as my last several orders; but that's ok, they've got me used to it at this point.

I had my order in and complete with receipt back in my inbox @ 16:02 on 3/19. I've yet to receive shipping notice email, but I just checked the order. It says pending still, but shipped already and estimated Thursday delivery.

You guys may want to check SAE's site in your order section. My items shipped a few hours ago and tracking is on their site, but they have not sent an e-mail yet. I ordered 3 of the pre-orders about 3 minutes or so after it went live, so it looks like they are finally getting to the eager ones...

Still waiting on my order to ship. I had three sale titles, two pre orders, and an autographed copy of The Front. The pre orders were Wild at Heart and Used Cars.
