I haven't seen "Cutter's Way", but "At Close Range" would be a day-one preorder. It's seriously underrated. Sean Penn is terrific in it, and Christopher Walken, for my money, has never been more chillingly evil than in this film. I liked "Miami Blues" quite a bit (both Fred Ward and Alec Baldwin were terrific), and "State of Grace" had three great performances in it (Penn, Ed Harris, and especially Gary Oldman), but it had the bad timing of coming out around the same time that "Goodfellas" did, so it suffered by comparison.
Two other Sean Penn films that Orion released that I wouldn't mind seeing TT get their hands on are "The Falcon and The Snowman" and "Colors". ![]() |

http://www.amazon.com/Dr-Syn-Scarecr...+syn+scarecrow I'm glad I was able to get it when it was first released - paying $30 was much better than the $300 that it goes for now! But, I would also love to have the BD. |

The Falcon and the Snowman would be great for them. It really calls for an isolated score track. That is some of my favorite Metheny group stuff, especially the rendition with David Bowie.

Something Wicked would be a great choice. Would please the Horner fans out there with an isolated score track, and it's a great little movie to boot.

Whether they put it out themselves or license it out, Disney will still catch heat for releasing Song of the South. Doing a small scale TT release wouldn't be worth the negative press they would most definitely get. It would also sell out in no time. Look at the Walt Disney Treasures DVDs, they had much larger print run and all (if I remember correctly) sold out quickly. SOTS and other classic Disney titles seem to have to much demand to be released by TT. That being said, I can see them handing over rights to Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures releases.

What would be a great Criterion release/ Twilight Time/ etc.. would be a small film that came out in 1981 called High Risk. It starred James Brolin, Anthony Quinn, James Cobun, Ernest Borgnine, Clevon Little and Lindsay Wagner. It has never even had a proper DVD release in anamorphic widescreen also has a great soundtrack. It has been released on DVD that looks like it was ported over from a VHS tape. The film was released by American Cinema but as far as I know it is public domain so not sure how that would effect someone aquiring the rights to it. It sure would be nice to have this fim preserved. If interested you can take a look over at youtube as the entire film is uploaded over there. Last edited by Elvis; 05-29-2014 at 01:15 PM. |

It also means having no access to the negative or decent master material and having to rely on finding a decent copy of the film. Most PD releases end up being extremely low-quality fifth-generation dupes that look terrible on DVD and would look even worse on BD.

Delta/Laserlight also had found good sources for some of their releases, though unfortunately, when they had a real good-quality release, it would be watermarked so that no one else could just rip it and release it themselves. |

At Close Range, Miami Blues and State of Grace are all at the top of my want list (The Falcon and the Snowman would be great as well). I already have the Australian releases of State of Grace and The Falcon and the Snowman, but I'd double dip for both titles, especially the former. I wish someone would get around to releasing The Pope of Greenwich Village as well.
