I have the DVD. So, I'll pass until I see a cheaper Region B. The Fall TT releases are going to expensive. Also, I can get this on HD via iTunes.

Yeah I was just going to wait until the fall and order this along with some other things that would be coming out from TT then, but I really wanted to get this one and since it seems like it'll be sold out before then I ordered it. The fact that the dvd is out of print and goes for so much kind of sealed the deal for me to make sure I got it.

Wow, I did not foresee The Train being such a hot seller. I was planning to get this for my birthday but I went ahead and made the order. I'm not risking it with a Twilight Time title.

I was going to get The Train eventually, but got it now since it's selling fast. The trailer looks good so that was the clincher.

On the fence about Brannigan. What do people have to say about this one?

Brannigan too?
What did you decide on Mindwarp?
How about Mr. Hobbs Takes A Vacation?
Just curious.

Ah yeah. So here's my situation.

I discovered the Twilight Time catalog about a month ago and ordered a few things, and then made two more orders shortly after. I bought about 20 of the things, so that added up quickly. And I found myself perusing the catalog again, and made a cart with Violent Saturday, Equus, Brannigan, Hobbs, Mindwarp, Oliver!, and Bye Bye Birdie. I didn't click order just yet, and decide to wait a bit.

But then July and August (and now September) are getting loaded and loaded with Scream Factory, Criterion, Kino (outta nowhere!), and then general things like living, going out to eat, etc etc, suddenly the 300 bucks or so that cart would've been just seemed like too much. So Birdie and Oliver were easy to drop. Saturday and Equus I found to be absolute musts. So that left the other three. Mindwarp sounded up my alley, but I'm not sure I can justify the 30 bucks on it. Hobbs sounds quite charming, but from what I hear its a good "one time, for Stewart completists," so I figure I can catch it on TCM and if I really love it I can buy the TT release (I don't think it'll sell out anytime soon).

Brannigan I hear mixed things. I feel that at worst it'll be a mediocre cop movie. And at best it'll be a 70s surprise. I think I will end up getting that with Violent Saturday and Equus.

I was on the TT facebook page, but always feel weird about asking about titles there because the actual employees partake, and they run a business so of course they are going to try and press their product. So I figured the forums here, which I peruse and lurked at for general product info, would be a good place to get into that type of discussion. I can at least get a recommend by people who may actually own the product.

As a huge Jimmy Stewart fan waiting for TCM to show Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation is not your best route. They have shown it once in 20 years and that was last year and it was pan and scan. The movie is lighthearted but you get to hear Jimmy say "damn".

I don't get any indication that you are region free, but in case you are (or planning on it) there is a cheaper, excellent Region B blu of Violent Saturday.

I was excited to see the correct wording, too!

My town just had a new Meijer store open (similar to Walmart). I almost wept with joy when I saw their self-checkout signs: "12 ITEMS OR FEWER".

Well I just ordered The Train, Heaven Knows Mr. Allison, Radio Days and the 'complete' soundtrack of De Palma's Carrie.

BYE BYE BIRDIE is one of my all time favorites. I actually own TWO copies of the Twilight Time Blu-ray! And that's NOT so that I can sell one...it's because I love the movie so much that I wanted a "safety" copy in case of nuclear apocalypse or other misfortune. And it's an absolutely stunning disc.

I died a little bit when you said it was "easy to drop".

Haha, easy to drop for my purposes, I guess. It's on television so much, and with the 30 buck price tag I just couldn't swing it this time around.

I still get use out of my region free DVD player, but I haven't gotten around to getting a region free Blu yet.

On the fence about Brannigan as well. Has John Wayne, but the low IMDb rating discourages a blind buy so I'll wait for reviews and impressions.

Same with Violent Saturday. Do I pick this one or the Eureka release for less? Have to wait for the reviews and comparisons before I decide.

The Eureka blu ray is cheaper, has worthwhile extras and will undoubtedly look exactly the same.

Agreed. I blind bought based on the positive word of mouth around the forums, and don't regret the purchase one bit. Funny, warm, campy (which is great to me), good songs/music...one of my favorite TT Blu-rays. It doesn't hurt that Ann Margaret is a total babe in this either.

Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ... We have a winner! I can't imagine this movie being as good without Ann-Margret. One of my prized TT titles too!

If so, I'll grab that one. Just need to wait for confirmation.

Personally, I LOVE 70s cop movies and I think McQ is a lot of fun, but I passed on owning Brannigan. It's a good movie and the Duke is okay in it (it's a novelty to see him in England), but overall I found it kind of bland. I think you could probably wait for a slow month on that one.

The "How Lovely to be a Woman" number where she's getting changed under her sweater... WOW!
