Yeah, that's a good model. 3000 sells out quickly with the core audience, but it takes a lot longer to get from 3000->5000.

I don't often read comments on Twilight Time's facebook page, but I visited there tonight and read this dated July 3. I don't recall it being mentioned here yet.
Twilight Time DVD Label It's certainly true that we were all caught off guard by Christine, which is why we are reissuing it. NOTLD90 on the other hand was a major problem for us and consequently we have no plans to do anything else with it at this time. |

For all that need to fill some older TT titles, TCM Shop has a 25% off code- FIREWORKS25 that works on their site now. It takes most titles down to about $26, which with the shipping is still cheaper than SAE, especially if you buy several..

Boy, I'd really like to get it confirmed about JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH. I was very disappointed in the quality of the HD transfer done for this title, and was pretty much told by Nick Redman that there wasn't much chance Fox would do a restoration anytime soon and perhaps never. I guess, if true, Fox thought otherwise. Still, I'm not quite believing this news, but I sure hope it's true and maybe we'll finally get a commentary track for this with Pat Boone, Arlene Dahl and Diane Baker.

I think Only the really popular titles like Christine , and Fright Night would get the 5000 number, and even that may not be enough, just look at Night Breed, even the $80 price tag is not keeping the rabid horror fans at bay, personally I think there is nothing wrong with adding more if a title sells out quickly with in the 3 year window, if the demand is there bump up the number. |

That makes sense to me. It took a while to sell out, but a lot of people (like me) didn't know about it then, and the Sinbad films sold quickly. A lot of the same people (like me) will buy a reissued Mysterious Island.

I'm still surprised that Journey to the Center of the Earth would be one of them. As I've said before it really needs a restoration, not just a higher-res scan. I don't see Fox doing a restoration and then not releasing themselves.
I'd be more inclined to think the third and fourth titles (the ones we don't know for sure) are Mysterious Island and The Big Heat. |

I was looking at the threads on their Facebook page, and didn't see any confirmation that Journey was one of the titles, let alone that it was the one getting the 4K scan.

So are you claiming that filmmusc just made the quotes up? We know one of the 4 titles is getting a 4K restoration. Journey is clearly the one that would need one. The others we know of likely already had a 4K remastering/restoration (FN and Christine for sure, and likely any other Sony title). The process of elimination alone would likely lead to it being Journey.

No. Jeez, don't get your knickers in a twist. I was just explaining why I didn't think Journey was one of the four. I went looking for the quote on the Facebook page and didn't find it. Obviously I missed it somehow. I don't really do Facebook, so my skills at finding threads there are lacking.

David Bordwell blogs from Il Cinema Ritrovato earlier this week:
On the restoration front, Schawn showed clips from the 1960 Journey to the Center of the Earth, first from a beautiful photochemical restoration of twelve years ago, then from a recent digital one. To my eye, the warm skin tones of the 35mm image were more attractive than the almost porcelain surfaces of the digital version, but the latter was sharper and contained a healthy amount of grain. |

Wouldn't surprise me at this point if they send it all the way back to SAE. |
