Well my order came in a box packed with an extra bubble wrap around them

The only magnet i have is 'Journey' but I like having them. I put the magnet in the case with the movie and it makes the release feel more complete

Might have to pick up Pal Joey (Which is was planning to do anyway) sooner rather than later.... before they run out

Okay Morsoth, Clark Kent, and gpn, you guys have me crying "Uncle!" here.

If this 1990 version of Night of the Living Dead really does have that kind of devoted cult following, then more power to TT for tapping into it. I can't really complain...I mean, so far in 2012, TT has released a lot of touchstone movies for borderline codgers like me, so I guess it's time to spread the good news around. And since I have no specific memories of this Tom Savini directed remake of Romero's classic, at least it will 'feel' kinda-sorta like I'm watching a new movie.

I've never seen Pal Joey but decided to get it since I like "musical" films in general.

I have not seen it either but I like musicals and it seems like a light entertaining flick.

Post your thoughts here when you've seen it.... If you don't mind

A good movie, but fairly forgettable (I have). At least it has a lively Georges Delerue score, otherwise, it's pretty much a head scratcher in this collection.
This is the biggest WTF were they thinking Twilight Time release, so far. Fright Night and NOTLD '90--makes sense, since they have devoted horror enthusiast followings. As Good as It Gets--maybe a bit of a stretch, but still a highly regarded film with one of Jack's greatest latter day performances. But Steel Magnolias? The very definition of a middle-of-the-road film--it's hard to believe the guys at TT would even want to release it. I mean, what's next? My Best Friend's Wedding? The Mirror Has Two Faces? Look Who's Talking??!?

Any one know if there is any chance that some of Twilight Time's earlier DVD only releases might eventually be offered by them in Blu-Ray? Certainly a couple of those I would like to have.

I've always wondered this also... only becuase I don't really feel like spening money on a DVD I would put the money on a BLU but I haven't purchased one of their DVD titles... and I order from SAE all the time for the film scores and have been doing so for over a decade.

It's sort of entertaining... but the real gem of the movie are all the outdoor shots around San Francisco. It's great looking back on what San Francisco used to look like back in the 1950s. They shot most of the exterior shots in San Francisco... and they look gorgeous! The interior shots look like they were just shot on a sound stage in Hollywood, but the exterior shots in actual San Francisco... golden! Sweet stuff indeed.

So far, I've only seen TT's Violent Saturday and The Kremlin Letter DVDs. The former was a letterboxed transfer, and if I recall correctly from the Redman interviews, that automatically makes it unsuitable for Blu-ray release. Nevertheless, it was a pretty good DVD, and upscaled reasonably well. However, the latter title was anamorphic and looked fine even on DVD - actually, better than many low end Blu-rays - so theoretically TT could run with a Blu of that title if their deal with Fox allows it.

But the question is, would TT want to do that while they're still sitting on unsold DVD stock? Both of those titles were part of TT's free DVD deal back in April; that's how I got them.

So, still wondering when "Major Dundee" will be announced. Understand it has been delayed to allow for some restoration work by Sony/Columbia (a VERY good thing!), but still thought the target release was for this Fall.

I bought the TT DVD of THE FLIM FLAM MAN. I can't recommend it. It's an upconverted, 480i nonanamorphic transfer, made anamorphic and it looks like crap, for my tastes anyway. I expect the same is true of STAGECOACH, which is why I haven't gotten it (that, and that I already have the FSM CD of the score -- and it really isn't that good a movie).

I think Twilight Time should just stick with Blu-rays now and give (I know, SELL) us only transfers that meet certain quality standards.

Sorry to disagree with you here, Rory, but I feel I must correct this for the record: The Flim-Flam Man (ironically one of our best-selling titles) is a fully hi-def transfer--nothing non-anamorphic or up-converted about it. Now, you may not like the transfer which is your perogative, and I would agree that we chose to put it out as a standard DVD and not Blu-ray because it wouldn't look the best in that format, but it still is a more than acceptable first-time DVD release. Along with Fate is the Hunter and Stagecoach (which looks swell), these are the standard DVD titles that are disappearing quickly, so anyone on the fence about them should start to move....also, as an fyi, this Friday at SAE, the "less than 500 remaining" warning will be posted for Mysterious Island and Journey to the Center of the Earth. The fact that Fright Night is the only sold-out title is not going to last long, with at least six more projected to be out of print by year's end.

Thanks all, for the continued support.

best,

Nick Redman

Well, that's your basic bombshell*!

* Although one of our posters (whom, moi?) is guilty of predicting 4 or 5 of them would be gone by years end.
