This is the 'Net after all. Even that casual heads-up from Mr. Redman could cause a run... Last edited by ROclockCK; 06-12-2012 at 08:14 PM. |

Being one of the last to order these titles from Twilight Time sounds like a pretty risky move. Especially reading the As Good As It Gets thread, where someone has already mentioned receiving a case with no disc (so apparently there's not even 3,000 discs) and another receiving a damaged case. And that's only from blu-ray.com users in the first 750 sales. If for some reason you do receive a damaged copy and it sells out, I imagine you're SOL.
They also mentioned customer service was extremely rude to them over the phone. Personally, I just can't see supporting this business model. I'll keep my eyes out for an HD TV airing of the Night Of The Living Dead remake and DVR it. Hopefully that can last me the next three years. |

I predict "As Good As It Gets" is going to be a fast sell, once Twilight starts selling it on Amazon.

Remember, they had 100 signed copies a gave one away free with a $100 purchase at the end of Fright Night's run. Still, it will be interesting to see what happens for each title that reaches that 500 count threshold.

It's interesting though that Mysterious Island and Journey to the Center of the Earth are simultaneously hitting the "500 left" milestone. That just reinforces an impression from the buy lists posted on these boards that the release of the latter reignited sales of the former. As this collection expands, we could see a lot more of that. For example, if they release another classic Noir, watch The Big Heat bounce back. Another Novak title would bump up Pal Joey, Picnic, and Bell, Book, and Candle...etc., etc. Last edited by ROclockCK; 06-13-2012 at 04:58 AM. |

Speaking of Mysterious Island, that was one gorgeous blu-ray. Did anyone else notice that it looked much sharper and cleaner than any of the other Ray Harryhausen blu-rays from the 50s or 60s Sony had previously released? Did Sony improve their HD remastering techniques, or were those other films' HD transfers from lesser quality elements/stock?

So now they've said at least 6 are expected to sell out before the end of the year, what do you think they are? (Besides Journey and Mysterious Island of course).
I haven't purchased any since the first four (Egyptian, Rapture, Fright Night, Mysterious Island) and am planning a huge purchase this Friday. I eventually want them all and can afford about 10 this time. So which 10 should I get to make sure I don't miss out on any? Journey obviously since they're giving us the 500 or less warning. I think The Big Heat and As Good as it Gets are probably good sellers so far too. Any predictions for the other three that will sell out by years end? |

![]() Anyway, you're right about FLIM FLAM MAN. I just put it on again and it's not at all as bad as my first impression. I initially watched it on my 46" plasma and was less than impressed. I thought it looked soft and that I detected some "combing." But watching some of it just now on my 37" LCD, it looks fine. Everybody get THE FLIM FLAM MAN! Just as some of the transfers TT has won't cut it as Blu-rays, I guess some of the TT DVDs won't cut it with me as "good enough for the plasma." By the way, I bought FATE IS THE HUNTER when TT released it -- but I have yet to watch it! However, that's only because I saw a 16X9 HD transfer of the movie on satellite within the last two years that was, although cropped, quite nice. I don't understand, if it's in fact the case, that there's not an HD master of FATE that's good enough for Blu-ray. I also have to say a big THANK YOU! to Mr. Redman and all those involved in TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: Ka Shen's Journey. Ever since I first saw the 2004 DVD of THE WORLD OF SUZIE WONG, I'd been interested in the career of Nancy Kwan. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN is the desired extra to that bare-bones release of WONG that I'm really grateful now exists -- only why wasn't it put out as a Blu-ray? And, boy, would I really like a Blu-ray of THE WORLD OF SUZIE WONG. Who's doing the Paramount films, Olive Films? I really wish TT had it. (Olive Films doesn't do isolated scores.) Meanwhile, TT, let's get back to the older Fox stuff, please. ![]() |

Redman might be including DVDs in that estimate Brad1107. He did mention that supplies of Fate is the Hunter and Stagecoach are dwindling fast.
