I think every quick sell-out, and even those that sold out moderately quick will get re-released. They don't have a huge amount of sellouts, so they'll no doubt have to rely more on 2nd and 3rd tier sellouts in the coming years. They know even those will sell well enough compared to the non sell-outs they have, so there's not a whole lot of risk involved. I'd say these are all very likely:

The Big Heat
The Train
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot
Rollerball
Sinbad movies
The Fury (w/ new master)
Body Double
Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia
Wild at Heart

Well, The Train is already in less than 50 units as of this post. Might have to jump into this now.

*sigh* In hindsight, I probably should've followed that user's advice and bought two of the blu-rays at once; that could've saved me on shipping costs.

Finally bit the bullet and watched BITE THE BULLET after buying it during TT's rare $10-off sale a while back.

Pretty good movie, a bit slow in spots, especially at the beginning. Nice performance by Ben Johnson. Decent picture quality though not especially outstanding, but fantastic audio quality. Also nice to have the SDH subtitle option for a few spots, especially having the Spanish dialogue actually reproduced in printed words instead of the typical SDH cop-out of "speaking in Spanish" or "speaking foreign language" that shows up on so many movies.

And THE TRAIN, yeah, it's great! Watched it a couple of weeks ago. Get it if you can!

I have never seen The Driver, but have been considering buying it. Just discovered after reading the new region B review that the TT one is cut. (Or the European one extended, depending on how you see it.)

Quote:
I would like to specifically mention that StudioCanal's Blu-ray release of The Driver contains the original uncut version of the film, which is approximately two minutes longer than the U.S. version.

That would be a miraculous feat - especially as StudioCanal licensed the exact same master used for TT's release -- StudioCanal approached us about it because they liked the new transfer. So you can consign the misinformation about different "cuts" to the usual internet trash bin.

Its a 2 min scene between the Driver and the Player that's on both the German and U.K. region B releases that's not found in the TT release. Its been confirmed and which is also why you see the 2 min discrepancy. Many may feel its a negligible scene considering it doesn't alter the rest of the film in any significant way but technically it is not exactly the same as the TT release.

Well, then, if true it's certainly interesting that StudioCanal decided in the end not to use Fox's brand new 4k restoration, which has a running time of 89 minutes and change.

Different encode, slightly different aspect ratio, more pixels to actual image ratio on the TT release (talking around 4 or 6 pixels in height) including better grain preservation on the TT release.

Apart from those differences, it looks like its from the same master.

They are using it from what I can see. It features the newer teal push in some shots, which I don't think is present on previous releases. It also has the same look and detail.

It's a strange one - we can't comment any further on an "alternate" master we haven't seen, but our surprise stems from the understanding that StudioCanal was using ours - but obviously not!

Don't you encode the image yourself?

I presume the master will be in a different format, in which needs to be encoded (in this case) MPEG-4 AVC, to be put on Blu-ray.

From the screen shots, its apparent to me, that the TT's encode is much better at preserving the grain.

The StudioCanal release seems to have patches of missing grain, and thus slightly less detailed.

It seems they've just added the extra footage. My disc is still in the mail so I won't know exactly how those extra minutes are presented for a few days but from several sources - it is included and the scan is from the latest. As if I wasn't having a hard enough time getting rid of my TT disc already..

Yes, when the studio hands us the master it is "flat" in the sense that it then has to go through the authoring and compression stage for blu-ray, which we always handle at our regular facility. So we understand there could be a difference in encoding, but the discrepancy of running time, if accurate, would dispel the notion this is from our master (meaning the source master restored by Fox in 2013.) The only other scenario is they could have "punched in" this extra 2 minute scene from a different source, although that would on the face of it seem unlikely.

Passing here...nice little film but not worth the 30 something and change just because they limit them to 3000 copies. In a couple of years the next format will be well underway and all the BD's like DVD's before them will useless to the film junkie that wants the latest and greatest.

All Aboard!!!!!!
