I'm a little reluctant to purchase direct from SAE because of the warning they put up, when you select standard delivery, about due to the number of parcels lost when dispatching to your country etc.

I'm in the UK - do they post that warning for all overseas buyers?

I suppose as I always purchase using PayPal it is covered isn't it?

I think that warning is just boilerplate text that pops up for everybody outside of the United States.

I'm in Canada and I order HUGE amounts of stuff from the U.S. and I have been doing so for over 40 years without once ever having had a package go missing. I think in the last month alone I've had three packages arrive from the U.S.

I'm quite positive that large numbers of packages do NOT go missing when SAE ships here (Canada) or to the UK. I imagine that, if there is any real problem, it may originate in those countries which seem to have questionable postal services.

I fully understand that SAE is trying to protect themselves and they may well have suffered grief at the hands of some light-fingered postal workers in Italy (which seems to draw the ire of may sellers) or Turkey. But I wouldn't put too much stock in that warning for those of us living in places with reliable and well-established postal services.

I used to be very eerie when buying things from Canada after a bad experience. I did end up getting the package close to or around 4 years later, I just wish I knew what happened to it.

I have a friend in Edinburgh, Scotland who's a big JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH fan (the one who provided me with those now dumped photos of the city as it looks today) and he ordered two copies from Screen Archives. They arrived with no problems. Hope that eases some minds.

It was one of the experiences that lead her to quit acting for a while -- that and the fact that she was a neurotic mess in many ways -- but, boy, was she hot! Love Natalie Wood.

I always find it sad when people can't accept the blessings them been given in life, and thus don't fully appreciate them. How many women would have gladly changed places with her in life? To have an acting career that pays handsomely, and be beautiful on top of that... it all amazes me sometimes.

But then again, sometimes it's hard to appreciate stuff in life until it's gone (or taken away)... and we all can relate to that.

OK, so maybe I do understand a little bit.

Natalie Wood was a very intelligent woman and I'm sure she fully understood how lucky she was in life in many respects, but she also had a less than wonderful life in many more ways, and I can't help but look at her now in her movies and not think, "Poor Natalie Wood."

If you're interested, I recommend getting a copy of "Natasha: The Biography of Natalie Wood" by Suzanne Finstad. It's an excellent book, and believe me, you won't think much of Robert Wagner after reading it. Nuff said.

Anyway, back to talking about Twilight Time releases.

I really like Natalie Wood, and have actually just been watching this film she made with Tony Curtis and Henry Fonda called Sex and the Single Girl.
It's in the NW Warner box set.
I haven't really found that many 60's comedies that I like that much, but this film has an amazing first half. Her performance is just incredible imo.
btw: I noticed that The Great Race is available in hd streaming on amazon--free for Prime members.
Around the World in 80 Days is also on there now in hd.
Warner can release that film any year now.

Just to be clear, Twilight Time has negotiated for the right to release 100 movies. Is that correct? And if so, does anyone know if the movies negotiated for are written in stone, or does Twilight Time have negotiating leeway?

I finally got around to watching The Big Heat for the first time and wow! What a great movie that was. One of the best blind buys I've ever made. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone whose on the fence. A true classic.

Also don't be afraid of taking a chance on Swamp Water. That one is still is my fave blind buy in the collection. I mean, we are talking about a formerly lost-in-the-vault Renoir...

Funny thing about The Big Heat. As much as I've enjoyed it over the years, and always admired everyone's work throughout, when I saw it again on TT's Blu, I was struck most by Gloria Grahame's performance. Of course, she had a great script and director going for her, but still, she did a fantastic job with that character...as subtley complex as in-your-face sassy. Just the kind of showstopping character turn that elevates everything else in a scene, and typically attracts multiple nominations and awards.

...which got we wondering how The Big Heat fared among the pedlars of golden statuettes, and I was stunned by how totally ignored it was at the time. According to the IMDb, this was its only recognition:

Am awaiting my order for 12 of the TT releases. Already had the first four so am now up to date with the complete collection.

Will post impressions when they come and I watch.

So far out of the original four, Rapture is my favourite, Mysterious Island is pretty fun, as is Fright Night. Am yet to watch The Egyptian.

Anyone know why we only got a 5.1 remix on the Bite the Bullet release? As far as I'm aware all other TT releases have had the original audio, even when including a 5.1 remix (Mysterious Island for instance, has both mono and 5.1). Was a reason given for the absence of the original mono? Or am I perhaps mistaken in thinking Bite the Bullet was originally exhibited with a mono soundtrack?

Probably the way it was given to TT by Sony.

But we don't know when that 5.1 remix was produced Eddie. Remember that TT gets these masters from Sony only when they are high-def ready, typically as a byproduct of the studio's Product Improvement Program (PIP). Such upgrades are ongoing and done for asset preservation and protection as well as serving other product streams (Cable, Streaming, VOD, etc.)...they aren't necessarily tied to an upcoming Blu-ray release (which in Sony's case regarding catalogue titles, would be almost never).

For all we know, Sony always had a 5.1 mix of Bite the Bullet, but never used it for the DVD because they thought it needed some additional tweaks and just shelved it until they were ready to redo the movie for high-def.

Can't say I'm not disappointed the mono isn't included though, when TT had already set a track record of always including original audio before. Always difficult to tell how ****ed with a new mix is without the mono to compare, and I never did like having a surround element shoved in where there never was one before.

Do you think this is more to do with Sony not wanting to exhibit an "inferior" track or just an oversight on TT's part? I'd like to think the former but they had no problem with Mysterious Island's 5.1 competing for space with the original mono.
