But do they actually recognize it from the Flint films...or as Austin Powers' ringtone?

Dou you guys think that The Blob will sellout in minutes? It will take a while to put the other pre-orders in my cart and wonder if I should just order The Blob by itself.

Thanks,
Tom

That's cool. Though I didn't like it, I can still see the appeal.

I would personally recommend The Believers. Everyone here already knows that I am a big nerd fan when it comes to this movie, but I've also seen the others that you mentioned, and I am of the opinion that it is the best of the lot.

In order of preference...

The Believers
The Other
Audrey Rose

I would tend to agree with this, though off the cuff I would probably instinctively classify Leave Her To Heaven as one of the few examples of "color noir". But over the years I've seen it less as that and more as melodrama also, though I think one could analyze the style and make comparisons between how the expressionistic-styled lighting is used in black-and-white noirs and how the choices of color is used to convey tone and emotion in LHTH. The alternation between warm hues, cool hues, and more "sickly" colors has similarities to the "struggle between light and dark" that's used in black-and-white cinematography of film noirs.

In the end, it's not so important how's it's classified specifically. If anyone is interested in the noir genre/style, they should definitely check out LHTH, I've revisited it many times over the years. Follow it up with a watching of Body Heat, a neo-noirish film that also uses it's choice of color in important ways.

I'm with you. I would put The Believers second and Audrey Rose third.

I can see how people today are more likely to be able to see what's coming because we have all now seen a bazillion horror movies with as many twists. But when the movie came out, based on a terrific novel, it wasn't as predictable as it is now. I had read the book so I already knew what was coming.
[Show spoiler]But it was a lot harder to hide in the movie than it was in the book.
I like the film a lot because it is beautifully done with a lot less frenzy than most of today's horror films (not there's anything necessarily wrong with that).

I assume that's a typo and you're not confusing The Other with the 2001 Nicole Kidman movie (which is also very good).

Thanks everybody for the recommendations. Its really hard for me to make up my mind with a blind buy at 30 dollars a piece. I think I'm going to blind buy Sexy Beast because it seems like the most well reviewed film I'm interested in seeing from TT. Love me some gangster movies.

I got the free autographed Buddy Holly Story. This is my third one, I also got The Front and Alfredo Garcia.

Also ordered:

The Blob

Looks like the autographed copy sold out within 2 minutes.

Sweet! Site's moving a little slow, but I managed to get the pre-order of THE BLOB and the free BUDDY HOLLY STORY!

My take:
THE BLOB
BUDDY HOLLY STORY (autographed)
BLUE MAX (the only one on the low quantity alert I was missing)
THE DOGS OF WAR
THE KILLER ELITE

The Blob, The Believers, Audrey Rose, Raining Stones/Riff-Raff, and the autographed Buddy Holly Story. I forgot Under Fire & The Vanishing which I'll have to buy before release.
