It may just be wishful thinking. Does Twilight Time release any Paramount titles?

Would it be out of the realm of possibility that TT do a signed promotion with a sold out title like The Blob?

It's not out of the realm of possibility as they did it with Christine.

It was available as a freebie (with purchases over $100) with the next batch of preorders the following month after it sold out. It's speculated that the free copies fall into the promo copies bin and aren't included in the original 3000 (or 5000) copies.

Christine was also a weird freebie because they didn't limit it to one per customer. If you spent over $300 on TT titles, you could get 3 free signed ones, etc.

Not yet. So far, they've licensed/released titles from Fox, Sony (Columbia, TriStar), and MGM (United Artists, Orion, et alia). Also from Channel Four Films [UK], and a smattering of other non-US titles. They've intimated that they have another studio on tap, but we have no idea what that studio might be.

I watched both Judgment at Nuremberg and Birdman of Alcatraz over the past couple of nights in order to determine whether or not I should purchase the Blu-rays.

Judgment at Nuremberg was a solid story with an undeniably great cast. I enjoyed the analysis of ideals, especially as it relates to nationalism vs. humanism. The third act is incredibly powerful. Still, I found it to be a bit dragged out despite it's thoroughness.

Birdman of Alcatraz is a whole different story. It is one of the most remarkable things that I have ever seen and Burt Lancaster's performance has to be one of my favorite performances of all time. I really loved how the film delves into the comparison of prisoners to birds trapped in a cage. Robert Stroud's speech on individuality on The Rock is very emotionalism, as are all of the scenes involving him and his birds. I am not even lying, but I cried when Stroud
[Show spoiler]released his sparrow into the wild.

Is this information coming from TT (or SAE), or is it cart-trick stuff?

Cart trick. Since they updated the website a year (or more?) ago, it only works once the number of copies dips below 50.

There's only 2 copies left now.

I got my copy of THE BLOB (confirmed, at any rate, about 4 1/2 hours ago). Won't ship, however, until all the preorders I ordered along with it are ready to go.

Can anybody recommend When The Wind Blows? I guess I can wait for the review here, but I've seen a few clips and I like the animation style. It reminds me of the animation style of Yellow Submarine, I'm just wondering if the movie is compelling enough to warrant a purchase.

Twilight Time needs to release Josef von Sternberg's "Crime and Punsihment" starring the great Peter Lorre. It would fit in perfectly with thier Film Noir titles. I saw it on TCM the other night and it has one of Peter Lorre's greatest "creepy" performances of all time,(might even be better than M) Plus von Sternberg is a master at directing and should be way way more popular than he is (Blue Angel is his most popular film). I dont know if this is the right thread for the Twilight Time people to see this request. If not, could someone please tell me which thread it is. Crime and Punsihment didnt even have a US DVD release so I think it would be a hit. The only DVD release out their is from Spain and its released under Columbia Pictures.

I think someone from Twilight Time posts on here, but maybe not actively enough to guarantee seeing your post. Might want to also drop a comment on their facebook page.

Why on earth are some titles 34.95 and others 29.95? Picnic and Major Dundee are both 35 bucks. That's unreal for what's included.

I;m not sure with Picnic and Pal Joey, but it's been that way since the beginning. I'm not sure if it's something to do with Rights or just the way those titles were negotiated.
The initial batch of Sony releases were higher in price than the Fox releases. This also includes Bite the Bullet, Pal Joey, and Bell, Book, and Candle (all three highly recommended BTW). Around mid-2012, TT began offering the Sony releases at the same price as Fox, but the older Sony's are still at the original price. As hariseldon says, Major Dundee is a two disc set.

With the exception of Major Dundee, TT was testing out different price points when they first started. The Egyptian was priced at $39.95 where as some of the other titles were priced at $34.95. TT eventually settled on the $29.95 price point but any previous titles which were originally released at the higher price point retained that higher price.

Major Dundee is a bit different. Since it was a 2-disc set TT raised the price to $34.95.
