FROM SAE's News Feed:

Special offer from TWILIGHT TIME - A limited signed edition of CHE! - signed by composer Lalo Schifrin - available to those customers who spend $100, before shipping, on other TWILIGHT TIME product. There will be a page just like the other titles to be added to your cart located on the homepage within the TWILIGHT TIME new releases box. This is a first come first serve offer. No.

Somehow I doubt that two dozen Blu-ray.com members who liked screwing around with the cart system actually affected the several thousands of discs sold to normal people.

But, but... I thought tinkering on the internet gave me unspeakable power to change the world.

Thanks for the info, TT Insider. I, personally, will pass on this since I got most of what I wanted with the last signed promotion. But they are always appreciated.

I wonder, since this promotion is at an atypical time and seems to have short notice, whether the signed copies will be around for longer. Or at least whether more of the people that really, really want the promotion will be able to get them. I realize that there's still only a limited number of copies, but I think when it's offered with the preorders, a larger percentage of the copies go to people who casually bump up their order to get the signed promotion, drowning out some people who really may be huge fans.

Once upon a time, if you added an extremely large number copies of a particular title into your cart, you'd get a notice saying that only "n" copies were available. People would use this to determine how many copies of a given title were left.

Last night TT was asked about the Fright Night preorder date (on twitter) and replied with this:

Quote:
Tuesday, December 30th at 4 pm EST.
I assume the rest of the Jan releases will be up at the same time.

ETA: I'd be curious to hear the board's opinion on how fast this one will sell. As it's their first rerelease I don't think anyone can say for sure if it will sell out in a day or if it'll still be available in six months. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't engage in some wild speculation!

Thanks for this. My body and my wallet is ready for that pre-order date!

I think it will still sell out very fast, but the strict limit will be put in to prevent it from being gone in a day. Even with both pressings of 3,000, that makes it only 1,000 more copies than The Blob, and Fright Night has been off the market for a while. 3,000 will probably be gone within a week.

Which is why we are trying this experiment - to see if that question can be answered.

I'm going for the CHE promo today because I couldn't get the promo last time (my order froze and by the time I got through, it was gone). I do think it won't move as fast as other promos because of no new pre-orders today, but I think there are still enough people out there that will go for it. I also want this one more than next week's La Bamba promo, which I'll probably pass on 'cause my credit card is squealing in pain.

I went for the Che! promo as I picked up the only TT blu-rays I don't have/haven't already ordered: THE MECHANIC, FLAMING STAR, TWILIGHT SAMURAI, THE VANISHING, and the CHE! disc itself.

I also went for the Che! Promo, I'm "hoping" Twilight Time will do this more often and not always on Pre-Order Days.

Well, we don't know how many copies of Che! you had, but I snagged one at 4:49 pm. Now I'll just have to figure out what to do with the copy I bought earlier

Just found out about the Che! promotion. Surprised it was still available, but not too surprised considering that many other like myself were probably caught off guard since it's not a preorder day and that Che! signed by a composer won't be sought after so much like Salvador by Oliver Stone. Anyway had 4 movies parked in my cart waiting for the next freebie so I picked it up (fortunately I didn't already have it).

They said on Facebook that there were 100 signed copies.

By the way, they also said that the signed (by Lou Diamond Phillips) copies of La Bamba will be available with the December pre-orders on Nov 19th.

The Che! promo is moving slow. The cart trick says there are 40 left. Not that moving 60 is no small feat and that is more than $6,000 in sales, but compared to the promos that occur with new releases, it's much slower. I have a feeling most of us are caught up on the TT titles we want so to come up with a batch of $100+ of titles we want every month for a promo can be hard, and doing it twice a month much, much harder.

Thanks for doing this... I've never been able to get a signed promo on pre-order days and I've been wanting to check out Che for a while, I'm also a huge fan of Lalo Schifrin's work from the Dirty Harry films et. al. so I'm pleased I was able to just snap up a copy just now.
