Whoever doesn't have "The Driver" should get it, but damn it's taking forever and a day for "Hard Times" to sell-out, they should drop the price or something I might buy it then.

I just received those two about a week or two ago myself. Those had been on my list to buy for some time. Both definitely worth owning.

The pq on Birdie is one of the most dazzling I have ever seen on blu-ray

It looks like Mike Nichols who's film The Fortune (1975) just went up for pre-order yesterday has passed away. Far too few films of his available on BLU at this time.

Postcards From the Edge and Biloxi Blues seem ripe for some Twilight Time treatment as well. Underrated gems that the studio seems to have no interest in releasing on Blu.

I spaced yesterday as well. I'm blaming the kindergarten disease my daughter brought home. THE FORTUNE was the only pre-order I'd planned to pick up anyway. I might just wait until the next round of pre-orders with PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO.

Our Man Flint has been on the close to selling out list for a year. I'm not a fan of it but I do love Lee J. Cobb.

So, I've noticed something interesting (well, interesting to a compulsive listmaker like me, I suppose). While Twilight Time doesn't have "spine numbers" like Criterion, or even catalog numbers like most labels, on their releases, there is a number for each title at Screen Archives. If you look at the page for any given TT title, there's a small box toward the left labeled "Label" which includes a "Name" (always "Twilight Time") and "Number" (always TWILIGHT#-BR)

Anyway, I noticed a gap in the numbering. I won't list them all, but the October and November releases are:

TWILIGHT111-BR Audrey Rose
TWILIGHT112-BR The Believers
TWILIGHT113-BR The Blob
TWILIGHT114-BR Under Fire
TWILIGHT115-BR The Vanishing
TWILIGHT116-BR Birdman of Alcatraz
TWILIGHT117-BR Bunny Lake Is Missing
TWILIGHT118-BR Flaming Star
TWILIGHT119-BR The Twilight Samurai
TWILIGHT120-BR Judgment at Nuremberg
TWILIGHT121-BR When the Wind Blows

And the just-announced December titles are:

TWILIGHT123-BR Yentl
TWILIGHT124-BR The Fortune
TWILIGHT125-BR Funny Lady
TWILIGHT126-BR Heaven & Earth
TWILIGHT127-BR Inherit the Wind
TWILIGHT128-BR The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

There's no TWILIGHT122-BR.

I didn't look while I was rushing in my order but it may be the number assigned to the autographed copy.

If so, that would be the first time they've assigned a different number to one of the signed promos. The TWILIGHT#-BR numbers have (with the exception of the one I pointed out above) been an unbroken run from TWILIGHT10-BR (Mysterious Island) to date, without including any of the signed promos.

The first nine numbers were for the DVDs they released in the early days (The Egyptian was TWILIGHT5DVD for the DVD and TWILIGHT5-BR for the Blu-ray). They did, however, change up the number for the upgrade of Violent Saturday: the DVD was TWILIGHT2DVD, while the Blu-ray was TWILIGHT96-BR.

Some other obvious guesses would be: (a) it's for the on-hold release of Centennial Summer, but that would have been about 20 numbers earlier in the sequence, or (b) it's reserved for the new edition of Fright Night, but I'm not sure why they would do that, given that they never (as far as I know) planned to issue it with the December titles.

I wonder if Exodus (1960) could be a future TT title?

Surprised that neither THE DRIVER nor HARD TIMES have sold out yet, especially as I believe each was made available as a free signed promo in past months. My favorite TT releases tend to be the 60s and 70s gems (these, The Disappearance, Rapture, etc) that were hard to see in decent quality prior to TT's excellent handling.

I agree with the 60's and 70's stuff. Usually they were things that kind of got the shaft PQ wise on dvd, and more often than not the Twilight Time discs have looked great.

Good to hear. I like knowing this means for the Decemeber pre-orders won't be held back waiting on autographed copies. Looking forward to these Dec titles esp Prime of M. J. Brodie + The Fortune

It looks softer than most movies, but according to those shots it looks miles better than any of the DVDs. So with such a huge improvement over the DVD then I think it can be assumed that the movie was never intended to be very sharp to begin with.
