Thanks for the info. But I note Amazon Canada (as opposed to Amazon.CA Marketplacers) is not selling it. Not saying it's hard to find; just commenting on SPHE's decisions. To the extent we agree that Steelbooks are something of a collectors market unto themselves, why seemingly discontinue the nice Digi in connection with an Sb release.

Back OT: An embarrassment of riches sitting on my second desk/table--The Train, Heaven and Earth and Judgment at Nuremberg. Inherit the Wind on the way as a rental.

The remake plays like an entertaining enough, but neutered carbon copy. Many of the same beats are replicated, but without the same sense of unease. That being said, I found the remake to be a fascinating exercise, and it hit all of my film geek buttons. Hollywood vs. Europe, arthouse vs. mainstream... Depending upon your levels of film geekiness, I recommend a blind buy, especially since you found the original so disturbing.

Watching the Sinbad movies on the Sony Movie Channel. I really wish I knew about TT when they were available.

I got my copy through Amazon.ca. I put bi-lingual in quotes because even though it was listed as bi-lingual, the only part that was bi-lingual was the paper thingy with the credits and blurbs, etc in French and English. Other than that, it is identical to the U.S. digibook.

Well ladies and gentleman, it's time to play the cart game...

Our Man Flint - 47 copies at SAE

And on a side note...I'm torn between Judgement at Nuremberg and Lang's Manhunt at the moment. Any thoughts? I really want to see Manhunt, but figure it will still be around when Biz-Zardoz comes up for pre-order. Ever since The Train and it's fast sell through, I am paranoid about missing certain titles.

I own both. Man Hunt is a good 1940s thriller, highly entertaining and tightly directed by Lang. It is worth adding to any collection. But Judgment at Nuremberg is in a whole other class, one of the greats. I would expect it to sell through sooner. Also, it has Burt Lancaster and Spencer Tracy adding to its appeal.

I've placed 4 titles in my basket and was just wondering when the best time is to push the button?

As long as the title quantities aren't too low should I hold off for deal?

Sorry for being vague but I've read somewhere of the benefits to ordering over $100 of titles to qualify for a bonus?

There's a good chance that they might show up internationaly, or maybe with any luck TT will re-issue them, they did sellout fairly quickly. In the mean time 7th voyage of Sinbad is availible from Sony, and it's the best of the 3 movies, I noticed you don't have it in your collection.

The deal is only when they have a autographed copy promotion. There should be one coming up, but so far they haven't announced it yet, they have been having the promo about once a month. The way the deal works is you have to have over $100 (4 titles) to receive the promo copy free and you must add it to your cart, the catch is that there are only 100 copies. I hope that explains it for you.

The bonus isn't all the time. Every so often (although they've been good about getting one every month or two lately) they have someone related to the production sign the booklet inside the case, could be an actor, director, composer, etc. They have a limited quantity, usually 100, and it's put on the SAE website on a specific time and date, usually announced with a weeks notice. You do need $100 worth of Twilight Time product in order to have the bonus shipped to you (you also need to add the bonus to your cart, it will be specially labeled if it's still available at the time and it's free).

They haven't announced one yet but depending on the titles you have chosen, they should be around long enough for the next autographed bonus.

What titles did you place in your cart?

Keep you're eyes peeled for a potential, but not guaranteed, announcement on Monday, 12 Jan.

I'd suggest getting the Harryhausen boxed set as it's recently OOP but still 30 dollars from some sources (ex, they still have copies of it in stock at that price at a bunch of local retailers around me like half-price books), it includes that movie as well as three others which are all worth owning as a Harryhausen buff.

BTW, I prefer Golden Voyage to Seventh Voyage. Heresy, I know. I greatly prefer John Phillip Law to Kerwin Matthews and Caroline Munro to Kathryn Grant, and I think Tom Baker is a ton of fun and possibly better than Thorin Thatcher as well (though Thorin was really good). Also, I think the Kali fight is the most fun action sequence in the bunch. Seventh Voyage might be better-paced and scripted but I guess I just like the feel of Golden Voyage more. They're both must-own though. They have two of the greatest music scores in fantasy history, too. Seventh Voyage's is rightly celebrated, but I think Golden Voyage's is almost as good (if less creative and certainly far less influential).

I can't wait for the next signed promotion; there are a few TT movies that I am ready to buy, but I figure if I'm going to spend a hundred bucks I better wait for that. Breaking Away, Leave Her to Heaven and Under Fire are tops on my list but I'm also very interested in Equus and I might get some of the Woody Allen movies. Crimes and Misdemeanors is one of my favorite movies of his by far, it's just not a very interesting movie cinematography-wise and there are no new extras on the TT release so I have a hard time justifying 35 bucks for a picture upgrade!

All 4 titles you are ordering look and sound great! I asked them about the possibility of a signed promo and they did say to check on the 12th, I am waiting on my order just to see what the promo would be

Speaking of Harryhausen, has anyone heard anything about Mysterious Island? It's my understanding that the contract has expired. I'm making a lot of assumptions, but, with how quickly the Sinbad movies sold, you'd think it would be a safe bet for renewal. Since that hasn't been announced, it could be that someone else licensed it, or the studio is planning its own release.

I really want Gwangi.

All should be good until the next promo, no danger of any of those selling out in the next few weeks. You never know, maybe the promo will be copies of Bunny Lake signed by Carol Lynley.

I don't get why Mysterious Island hasn't been announced for renewal, it seems like it would be a faster seller than Journey to the Center of the Earth since they're similar movies with similar fans but only one of them has good creature effects. I'm not sure how long they took to sell out, maybe that has something to do with it, or maybe it's just that they got a new master of Journey so they thought would make it a better candidate. Either way, I hope Mysterious Island is also certain for future release. It's unavailable in other countries unless you want to buy a burned copy from Spain.

Gwangi's trapped in warner archives hell, I don't think that's going to happen. :P I'm just glad I bought the DVD when it was still pressed with special features instead of burned bare-bones. At least Beast from 20,000 Fathoms is still available outside of the archive.

Big Heat is the other one I regret. I became aware of TT slightly before it sold out, so I did have a chance to get it, but I didn't get around to it until it was too late.
