Hmm, $150 makes sense for a much sought-after OOP title like The Blob, but seems counter-productive for any of the other titles. I think I'll wait to see any firm confirmation that $150 truly is the minimum requirement before I make any further comments or criticism.

This doesn't need a further confirmation.
It's confirmed in their facebook page.
They had made an error in the date, and changed that. They didn't change the sum.
Also, there are a couple of comments that point out the excessive sum. I'm sure, if it was an error, they would reply by correcting it.

I'm talking about FUTURE promos. The Blob promo is for $150, but it's not been confirmed that most future promos will be for that amount.

Yes, but the Facebook post has been amended so that it no longer reads that way, and there have been no other comments indicating that the $150 is anything but a one-off for this particular title.

I'm glad that their doing $150 for this title as it helps my chances of getting a copy. I missed out on this title when it was released.

Since I was late to the party in terms of starting to buy Twilight Time releases, I'm behind enough that adding a couple more titles to the stack in order to get a free signed edition doesn't bother me. On the other hand, given that the announcements are virtually last minute, it'll be hard to allocate an extra $50 unless I just decide to set aside some money each week to go into a "TT kitty". But it would certainly be nice if the $150 minimum wasn't the regular deal going forward.

In any case, I'm not that interested in a copy of The Blob. I might be willing to go for it anyway in order to get a free copy, but I don't want to have to fight with 100 other people to get it.

Looks like there spinmister on FB Bruce Pullen says 4 titles at 29.95 and an older title priced at 34.95 that's not yet sold out. Gets it done above 150.00 but under 160.00 (Which may still be too rich for most).

Could be a way to unload those older titles. People don't ONLY buy TT titles in a given month though. Other labels releasing other titles as well which may cause many people to pass on this signing.

But we'll see if this promo moves considering it's The Blob.

So, is SAE/TT hoarding 100 or more copies of Fright Night that fans were unable to buy and now have to pay $150 plus to buy movies they may not want?

I think this is a bad move on their part. They should use the signing promos for titles not sold out to help them move. These 100 units should already have been sold to the fans who truly wanted them.

They should do it by a number of titles instead of pricing. The whole 149 dollars and change thing is kind of a blatant "we know it's kind of a cash grab."

But they didn't cancel the last 100 or so orders like they did the Blob.

I am not trying to add yet more drama to the TT thread. I own several TT titles and have two more on the way. I just think it is kind of crappy to hold back ANY copies of a title that is going to sell out.

Use the signed copy promos and sales to help move their slower moving titles and get them to a break even point or profitable.

If they did this with Fright Night (hoard 100 or more copies) then that is a huge slap in the face to their supporters who tried to buy a copy of Fright Night recently and were unable to do so..

not to try and defend them, but they COULD have the 100 copies in the contract as part of the marketing budget. they press OVER 3000 copies (5000 in this case )because they keep some in reserve for in case a defective copy happens or getting lost in the mail, so it stands to reason the extra 100 copies are not considered part of the 5000 SALES limit but rather part of their marketing budget

Interesting... I had not considered that.

The $150 level to participate in the promo is kind of rough. I make a decent living so I can play but for a lot of people spending $30 for one movie is a significant investment.
