I signed up for SAE's mailing list. Shouldn't I receive an email when Twilight Time titles reach the 500 limit? Just so it's clear, I'm not complaining because I already bought the titles I was interested in. I'm just curious because my understanding was that a notification would be sent out.

Before buying, I previewed part one and decided I wanted the film before finishing the clip. I was not disappointed. Rapture is a mesmerizing, dark little fairy tale of an emotionally immature teenage girl coming of age in world of callously manipulative adults. Stunning black and white cinematography, outstanding performances, and a haunting score combine with a somewhat neo-gothic atmosphere to make this, in my opinion, Twilight Time's best release to date. Rapture is the best "lost" film discovery I have made in years. I have reviewed and commented on it in this thread and the Rapture thread (which has now dropped out of sight). If you like Bergman, Hitchcock, and early Polanski, I think Rapture is a safe buy, as it has elements that are familiar to these directors and yet is distinctly unique. The film would have been right at home in the Criterion Collection. Last edited by oildude; 07-12-2012 at 05:30 AM. |

It should be noted, however, not every copy had a magnet. I bought The Egyptian, Picnic, and Mysterious Island from them, and only the first two had magnets. I wrote to them about the one for Mysterious Island and I got a reply from them saying they have a limited number of each magnet and they are inserted randomly.

TT needs to have SAE update again when they get down to less than 100 copies. Usually 500 is a nice update but it doesn't hurt. I am surprised Mysterious Island has not sold out .. honestly it is a better film (not that has anything to do with it) IMO.

I havent been happy with TT since the Pat Boone autograph fiasco and seeing releases that are *limited to 3000* copies to justify their Criterion-esqe prices, minus any extras that the previous DVD releases had. I am actually pretty glad there hasnt been anything of interest with their upcoming titles, save for the Night of the Living Dead remake, but Im on the fence on it. I usually just suggest and would easily purchase a title from them if the DVD release had no supplemental materials like Experiment in Terror, The Creeping Flesh etc. I was hoping that they would release the Lady from Shanghai BUT now that I see how their Blu Rays go, Id rather Criterion release it instead Just my worthless thought of the day on TT ![]() Last edited by dsman71; 07-12-2012 at 03:24 PM. |

My only theory as to why is that it's $5 more expensive. It might not seem like much, but I bet it has some effect.

Now Olive Films is doing the same thing with Paramount titles and doing almost equal quality, but I was able to grab their titles for well under $20 shipped - compare to the $30-35 that Twilight Time requires plus their high shipping. If Mill Creek starts cranking out "barebones" Sony titles (with high quality transfers), then Twilight Time's unique business model might be even more challenged.
