Have you ever thought of using them as decorative coasters? Many DVDs have nice artwork on them, though I expect the hole in the middle does make it problematic when the condensation starts with cold drink glasses.

I do an Amazon trade in since they pay shipping. It's sometimes only 50 cents or less but it's something and it's not a hassle If I tried to sell that on Ebay I wouldn't get much more.

I made quite a lot of money when I sold 600 or so DVDs back in 2012 and early 2013 with the intent of upgrading those movies to Blu-ray. I took most of them to a used store in my area, and many of my discs were obscure enough to fetch a few dollars.
I waited long enough to switch over to Blu-ray so that, in several instances, I was able to buy a Blu-ray of a movie for the same amount that I made by selling the DVD of the same movie. I also took good advantage of the Best Buy Upgrade & Save program when it was still around, and that was how I "sold" most of my more generic DVD titles that would not have sold for a lot of money elsewhere. I probably would have made more money by selling the DVDs individually on eBay and such, but I don't have the patience to do all of that, and, after the hassle of shipping and such, the yield might not have been that much higher. I'd say that, from a rough estimate, the sale of my 600+ DVDs earned me about $2,500 to 3,000 to spend on Blu-ray upgrades. All things considered, I'm pleased with that. |

To me it's not worth the hassle of selling my DVDs. Would rather keep a DVD I paid $15 for (or more) rather than "give" it away for a buck (or less). Just like Blu-ray, I bought the discs to keep, not sell 10 years later at pennies to the dollar. Since I only will have watched them once or maybe twice in that time, I would have rented them instead if that was my intent.
Will be interesting to see if we feel the same about our Blu-ray collection in 5-10 years, as we do now about our DVD collection. |

I've been doing this lately, like all my Harryhausen titles.

I tend to get $1-$3 for most of mine through various sites (who also pay the shipping to them). Some only fetch 10 cents, but I've also had others valued at $7-$8. At least I get something back, and its essentially free money at this point. If I can pull $50-$70 per order then that's 3-4 blu-rays I don't have to "pay" for.

Anyone in this thread ever experienced any peeling/bronzing on TT titles? I have a disc that freezes around an hour in on all my players and has what looks like peeling beginning around the outer edge of the disc, all the way around. I've watched the disc two times previously with no issue, and did not see anything wrong with it when I first got it. Am I the only one? Chances TT responds?

Many of the classic-era film noir movies that I own will likely never be upgraded to a high definition format, but I'm just happy to have those films on DVD in the first place. |

I always thought it was 100 but I might be wrong. I did see they didn't list a quantity on the FB announcement

As should be obvious, these are offered for free in an effort to get people to buy a handful of titles they might otherwise put off getting. In my sig is a link to a posting of mine listing all of the signed promos. |

Just a hunch, but I think if it's only 100 copies then they are more likely to list the quantity on FB. If they don't list it, then it's likely to be more.

Just the other week, I brought about 40 DVDs in. They took all but 5 of them, and I got $66. I spent most of that on used BDs of Dexter: Season 1 (and now I can sell off my DVD set ![]() There's another place that I can take the ones that Newbury doesn't want. Quote:

They also did a signed promo of Nancy Kwan on the DVD version of Fate Is The Hunter. It was signed on the DVD disc itself with silver sharpee. If my recollection is correct, it sold for $19.95 and may have required a minimum order amount. |
