One cannot be 100% certain, but in the case of The Big Heat, I think my reasoning makes complete sense. Then again, I was able to add 3,000 copies of Swamp Water to my cart, so who knows.

it's all a big waste of time imo, and the whole trying to use the SAE website to think one knows anything at all about number of copies sold or left or whatever is a bunch of bs imo.
Yes my friend, I agree. Look... if you are interested in one of the movies, buy it.. if not, then don't buy it. What difference does it make how many copies are left???

One would think this kind of logic would be obvious, but for some these titles only become interesting when people think they're about to become collectible or their pushed up against the wall to finally purchase rather than miss out. In the case of The Big Heat what is anyone worried about. When it's down to 500 copies they'll tell you and then you'll have a few weeks to do something about it. In the meantime it's not down to 500 copies so buy or don't buy.

Well if Journey to the Center of the Earth was any indication after 500 copies is announced you have only a few hours to place your order.

Also someone may already be interested in the title, but not like the price and be on the fence about getting it. Obviously the amount of time they have to think about it is limited to how many copies are left. Otherwise the decision is made for them once sold out.

Bell, Book and Candle would be another title I would pick up if interested. One of the best titles in the collection.

No, Journey took almost a week to sell the 500. And that was a sci-fi title. It doesn't matter if they like the price because the price is the price and they can pay it or not. It's all really simple, actually.

Actually it took a month from the date Twilight sent the email to sell out. For some reason I thought it happened in one day. I never argued anything about the price other then the high price is the factor that makes someone think twice about a purchase. Basically I made the same argument you did albeit in a different manner. That people may be on the fence due to the price and feel forced to buy it when "their backs are pushed up against the wall". Buying it more out of fear they won't get the chance again rather then because they actually decided it was worth the money. Not necessarily a simple decision for everyone.

Two more or lest recent movies (close to 30 years but you know what I mean) for October. Enemy Mine could be interesting but not enough of a fan to make the $30+ value worth it for me. I will leave it for the real fans

So did you actually receive a personal email saying TT was down to 500 copies? I ask because I signed up for the SAE email list back when I bought my first TT bluray (Mysterious Island) a few months ago, but I have yet to see an email from them. Could I have possibly signed up for the wrong email list? (FWIW, I signed up for the list by clicking on the "join mailing list" link on the upper right hand portion of the SAE or Twilight Time main web pages). Could I have some kind of block unknowingly set up somewhere?

It bugs me if other people are getting the updates, but I'm not seeing any.

yes they send out an email to everyone signed up to receive correspondence when a title gets down to 500 copies.
so if you didn't receive that I would go to the website and sign up again to receive the newsletter or whatever email updates they say you can receive.

Thanks a lot! Hmm. For whatever reason, I'm not getting the updates (or any other email). I've reentered my email address several times to make sure, but every time it tells me that I'm already on their list. Oh well ... whatcha gonna do?

Maybe the emails are going to your spam folder?

Hmmm ... now this might sound really naive, but I don't think I have a spam folder. I use Apple's "mail" application for my email. I don't want this to stray Off Topic, so maybe if anybody has a clue about what might be going on, they can send me a private message. Thanks though ... I appreciate the help.

I need to check my settings / account as well. I get emails from them announcing new titles but have not got any mentioning potential sellouts. I have the three sold out films already and come here enough so it has not been an issue to this point but. . .

Normally if you add an email address to your contacts list it automatically updates your spam settings to allow the mail through to your inbox.

Email address is newsletters@screenarchives.com

Thanks so much for the tip ... and for the email addy!

Spoiler for only those interested in this problem of mine:
[Show spoiler]I looked into the settings of my email application trying to figure out what's going on. I'm pretty sure I have it set up so that nothing at all goes to any kind of spam/junk mail folder. Instead, if any mail comes through that is suspected to be spam, it still goes to my regular "inbox" and I still see it ... but the color of the "subject line" text is changed so that it stands out from the others for closer inspection before I either accept it or permanently get rid of it. But still, as far as I can tell, I should be seeing ALL email that's sent to me. I'm still confused as to why that doesn't seem to be happening.

Regardless, I went ahead and added the email address provided (by BJQ1972) to my Address Book/contact list as suggested, so we'll see what happens! Much thanks again for your help!

And I just got my copy of THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES!

Quick service again...one week from Screen Archives to Winnipeg in the regular mail (not registered or expedited). That's my seventh order to arrive safely from Screen Archives in standard mail.

you make it seem like the package would be whisked off by a boat of pirates or something.

That's what Screen Archives would have us believe!

If you order from Canada or most of the world outside the U.S., You get a scary warning window at the Screen Archives websites saying that, "...a large number of packages go missing in your country" and they WON'T replace them unless you use the registered or expedited mail. Registered mail to Canada is $15.00 and expedited is $25.00.

Many people see that warning box and are SCARED into thinking they must use one of the registered services. I don't. I just use regular post for $4.60.

I just want people to know that regular mail is a generally safe method and I've never had a package go missing.
