I never saw High Time theatrically, just on TV during the late 60s - and only once at that - crudely panned and scanned in lacklustre black and white (more like gray and less gray). Considering how little I can recall about it, this will effectively be a brand new movie experience for me. Last edited by ROclockCK; 07-20-2012 at 11:28 PM. |

I will have to pick up High Times when I order TMMATFM. Between the Criterion sale (BN), Kino sale (importscds) and the BB Upgrade and save, I have over 20 movies that I need to see...my discretionary funds for blu-ray purchases are dwindling

Well why wouldn't they get scared? SA basically tells there customers int post is going missing A LOT and that they will not honor order without the extra charge. Doesn't create an environment of trust.

First I should say that I have NEVER returned a BD or DVD.
But I have to agree. The buyer is well within his rights, and I find the attack on him here to be quite pathetic. The TT fanboys in this thread really need to tone their overdefensiveness down a few notches. Quote:

Ok... time for me to add my thoughts. As I am sure you all know, this is Screen Archives Entertainment's policy...
"RETURN POLICY: Only unopened CDs will be accepted for credit or refund to a customer's account. Screen Archives must be notified of this return within 6 weeks of the shipping date for domestic customers and within 90 days for international orders." So... if you open it, you own it. If it is still sealed, you may return it. It does not matter the reason. Would I return a blu-ray based on a bad review? No. Would I return a blu-ray because I have changed my mind, and I really do not want the movie after all? No. However, if it is still sealed, I have the right to do so... because SAE has given me that right. There is really nothing more to say about this... lets discuss movies. |

And not to put too fine a point on it, but I don't see many of the core TT 'hobbyists' hopping among other Blu-ray.com threads blithely dumping on everyone else's niche collector interests every chance they get. Personally, I think the willingness to pay $50 bucks for a slipcover edition of a $9.99 Blu-ray is pretty schtooopid, but you don't see me trolling through those boards constantly reminding slipcover fans they have a screw or two loose somewhere. We all have screws loose - for something - it's the nature of collecting. ![]() Actually, I've met some wonderful folks here who are guilty of nothing more nefarious than sharing their enthusiasm for the funky, collector-savvy journey TT has undertaken through the vaults of two major studios. These are fun, interesting, passionate fans, many of whom have been on a multi-decade/multi-format quest to finally acquire some of their fave movies in the finest quality available while hard disc delivery of media is still possible. And along the way, they - we - have discovered that this sophmore label has routinely produced some flat out great work, yet even when occasionally less so, still representing a sincere best effort given the challenges of the source elements and the masters they had to work with. I've honestly never seen a run of anything this consistently good in all my years of home video collecting. And barely a year ago, none of it existed. TT collectors are a harmless lot really - mostly vet movie fans - just grateful that someone has finally assumed the risk necessary to get this stuff out to us...and not on an SD MOD DVD-R in a flimsy eco case with indifferent artwork @ $19.99, but on a professionally authored and manufactured 'reel' HD Blu-ray with thoughtfully written background essay booklet...and for what...a measly $10 bucks more than a MOD? No brainer. P.S. Blueherring. I received The Egyptian magnet. You should have your Mysterious Island magnet in a few days. Last edited by ROclockCK; 07-21-2012 at 04:06 PM. |
