Thanks again ROclockCK for the swap, I am now also magnet complete at least for the movies I have purchased, all have a magnet bar one which wasnt released with one.

Don't think there i'll get any titles for a little bit, considering purchasing Swamp Water and Rapture next time I order, hoping to hold out until pre-order for Night of the Living dead to order at once.

I just posted a new Silver Screen column, which includes The Wayward Bus. See the front page in the top news (the column also contains Zorba the Greek).

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=9153

In case you might have missed it, I also just covered Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines, a great history of the film with rare graphics, located here:

That said, I am counting the days to Bye Bye Birdie!!!!! More musicals please:-). From Fox: Hello Dolly, Star! and Doctor Dolittle. From Columbia/Sony: Lost Horizon, Funny Girl, Oliver!

You're certainly welcome! Actually, you're my first trade here, and it was smooth as silk. BTW, how do we add that info to our profile?

Swamp Water and Rapture are two of the least discussed and quieter selling movies in this series, and yet two of the best, including their Blu-ray specs. Over time, I hope more folks take a chance on these undervalued gems.

He does it again! I can't believe some of the stuff you find for these pieces Robert.

I'd say even or better odds on all of those titles eventually finding their way into the Fox or Sony schedules, or Twilight Time's. I'd add Can-Can and 1776, simply because I've never seen them. Both have their fans, especially the latter.

I know TT has a contract with Sony - but what about international releases... does TT 's contract have other countries sown up?

No, it doesn't. I won't be surprised if some of the more popular titles start to show up.

Case in point, Big Heat is soon to be released in France.

Thanks for responding, that's what I figured. Will be interesting to watch the international BD market.

Great! I bet France will do a few of the other TT titles, like this one for example

The Egyptian is already released in a couple of countries in the EU.

The problem is that if any do show up in Europe they are likely to be released in a single country by a niche label, so will likely be just as expensive and also increase the probability of forced subtitles.

Thanks, was considering buying that from TT - will google the title to see who else has it. If I buy it it will probably still be the TT edition, but I like to investigate all options.

Don't mind if it is a bit pricey, but even niche labels are generally cheaper than TT releases - Kino for instance, which I buy below list price. Forced subs of course are a big no no .

the problem can also be quality--the overseas Egyptian release is said to be inferior to the TT version, as far as overall image quality.

Oh, yes! 1776 would be an instant "ordered" with me. In fact, I hope it's out on BD before next July 4th.

By the way, DOCTOR DOLITTLE is out on BD in Germany and it's All-Region. I haven't ordered it yet myself, but if it's not announced by Fox or Twilight Time soon, I may do so. I saw the disc reviewed on DVDBeaver.com and it looks like another case of Fox not willing to go the complete digital restoration route, but it looks good anyway.

Hmmm. Interesting Rory. Dr. Dolittle happens to be one of the 65mm Todd-AO Fox titles that went to Fotokem in 2010 or 2011 for 8k re-scanning. You'd think that Fox' overseas divisions would have access to the home market's state-of-the-art masters, but not necessarily. With many studios, and especially Fox, their International business units seem to function more autonomously, often going out with titles on their own, sourced from their own vault materials. This is one of the reasons why the overseas Blu-rays of The Egyptian are considerably inferior to Twilight Time's edition - TT had access to the last best Fox master, which still hasn't shown up in any other International version.

I don't know if that's the case with this German edition of Dr. Dolittle, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it was sourced from an older, pre-Fotokem scan and master.

Did the long lost prologue of Doctor Dolittle ever show up?

Let me save you the trouble: It's one of the worst transfers EVER - brown, ugly, and just horrifyingly bad. I have no doubt it was taken from a faded 35mm element because if they went off a large format element (doubtful) it's even worse. Fox will do it right when the time comes, either themselves or via Twilight Time. Just stay as far away from the German disc as you can.
