Is it possible to run this player to/through two different audio sources, and have it work on whichever one is actually on?

Specifically, if I wanted to connect it to an atmos soundbar via the HDMI for watching movies, but also connect it via analog or optical to my old Yamaha receiver just for listening to CDs??

Or would having it connected to both just confuse it, and I'd have to manually change something in the settings for each activity??
I have my UB9000 connected to the tv/soundbar with HDMI and to a Yamaha stereo amplifier with
Rca/phono connectors. Works fine. Some adjustment of settings needed, but only once. I shut off the amplifier when not needed.

Awesome! Thank you! Which settings did you need to adjust? As in, was it with the Panny? Or just some EQ settings on your amp?

I might be late to the party here, but just did the latest firmware update on our UK imported Panasonic 820 and I've noticed two big changes.

First, pressing PLAYBACK INFO twice displays the HDR10 metadata readout that previously was only available on the 9000. Cool!

Also, and I could be mistaken here, but it seems that the player now outputs the entire contents of a UHD BD in Dolby Vision if the player detects that the main feature is in Dolby Vision. Previously, I noticed on discs we authored that if the main feature was DoVi, it'd convert HDR10 to DoVi as well. But now it also converts SDR (bonus features) to DoVi.

Not sure how it decides how to do this - perhaps it does it if it detects a single DoVi playlist over a certain length on the disc, or something. It doesn't do it with Spears & Munsil (which is 98% HDR10 but has the Dolby Vision demo montage on it).

Per the manuals the 820 and the 9000 have no audio inputs. Hope that helps.

The Panasonic 820 and 9000 are regular normal 4K BR players.
They are not Universal (no SACD & DVD Audio).
And no inputs like in the Oppo 203 (HDMI input) and 205 (adding digital audio inputs so it can also be used as a hiend DAC, plus its headphone jack on front).

The Panny. Settings for High clarity sound. Video playback HDMI Only. Audio playback Analogue Only. Thinking of it, not sure if necessary but works.
Really like it as a cd-player in my "hifi" setup.

Wow, with those Audio In ports that next to nobody will ever need, it's downright surprising that Oppo stopped making Blu-ray players.

Yes, if I'd known they were going to add the metadata readout I wouldn't have sold the 820 and bought the 420. REALLY hoping OPPO add it to their players as one last hurrah.

It's funny, I never thought of that..why bother put four different inputs?
If you want audio inputs just buy a receiver, right?
When people started to realise that they could buy a receiver for only $199 with many more audio inputs, that's when Oppo saw the sales going down and stopped making them, it has to.

Then, why are they $3,000+ on eBay when the Panasonic 820 is only $449?
The audio inputs? Nah, the headphone jack.

The Oppo 203 information screen includes MaxDML and MinDML HDR metadata values. Unfortunately, not MaxCLL and MaxFall like the Panasonics do.

The Panasonic 4K players are more useful in that aspect now for the movie professional technical reviewers. Too bad Oppo is no more.

Pioneer LX500 screen's info ...

Sorry, when asking for inputs, i was doing research on finding a reciever and was getting this thread mixed up with that.
Most of the recievers and systems ive been findingg are bluetooth and do not have hdmi in.
It is really annoying me.
I cant seem to find a decently cheap price on a 1,000w system like i did a few years ago.
