Whenever I left a disc in the machine (which is often as I usually fall asleep mid movie and either wake up and finish it then, or the next night), it would always give me a disc read error when I turned it on and tried to play it again without ejecting first. If I ejected the disc, it always played no problem, but never if I left it in and tried to play it. Weird issue, but was happy the reset solved it. Even on a Sony TV the Mi4K thing was nothing but a marketing wheeze anyway

I wonder what kind of glitch can cause a player to develop playback issues like pixellation or out of sync audio with very few specific discs (or movies), that a factory reset solves it. |

Clear BD data first if you have an issue. If that doesn't work then factory reset. |

Don't connect your player to the internet. it will cause glitches. I never have any problems with discs and I leave it off and only connect to check for a firmware update. I use a streaming box to stream stuff. Turn the wifi off though when playing a disc and only turn on wifi to connect to a network or stream but leave it off for just disc playback.

When I had the ub820 connected to wifi, cloudy with a chance of meatballs 3d/2d refused to play. Tried it for at least five times with the same results. I disconnect the wifi and it works flawlessly everytime. I keep it disconnected till l check for a firmware update, which is never.

I have had this player since November. Got the modded version to get it regionfree. I really like it but I have noticed a few things that seem a bit strange.
So I watched the 4K release of Zombie from Blue Underground recently and noticed some very noticeable "flickering". The flickering was consistant and occured throughout the film. This was also the case on To sleep with anger released by Criterion. Anyone else experienced this? I have an OLED CX. Thanks. |

I have been asked to help a friend select his first 4K disc player. He only wants to spend about $500. His TV is the Vizio OLED55-H1. With his budget, is the Panasonic UB 820 the best choice despite these reported Dolby Vision issues?

The best way to mask it is ambient lighting, or if you want to lower Black level a click or two but that's at the expense of crushing some black. |

It's probably more tv dependent than player dependent, but if you have another UHD player (such as a Sony) might be worth trying to see if it happens on that too.
