The factory reset may have cleared the memory already. I would strongly suggest to disable the internet connection to see if it loads problematic discs. Also if you’re using any external memory device like a hard drive or USB drive disconnect it. Good luck. Last edited by Tok; 01-27-2022 at 07:17 PM. |

Why do you keep focusing on the display type though? What difference is that making to the output of these modern players in themselves? It's not the quality of DVD in itself that's being discussed, that's just more tiresome whataboutery. No, it's the quality of the respective players in handling this material i.e. the Pannys aren't messing up the output of DVD just because we're not watching on CRT TVs, they're still using 4:2:0 YCbCr BT.601 video and using interframe codecs for DVD, it's far closer in tech terms to its bigger brothers than you'd think. The output might well be interlaced 60Hz for NTSC material but with 3:2 pulldown and good deinterlacing you'd never know it was intended for such steam-driven TVs. |

Could possibly be a slightly dusty laser pickup. You could try a laser cleaner disc but I prefer to take the player apart and lightly spray some compressed air on the pickup or use a lens cloth gently on the pickup. |

I’m sure there some good DVD or BD players from Oppo that don’t command the outrageous used prices of the UDP models. Vintage used gear is usually better for formats than expecting a piece of equipment to do something well that was thrown on as an after thought. I still use cassette tapes with music. The vintage era cassette decks are still significantly better than any cheaply made deck today that was built just to serve a small market of enthusiasts. |

Is this player sitting directly above a high heat component like an AVR or amplifier? That’s usually not good for the lifespan of these players. |

I did some testing last week and I noticed something (on my player at least): it's double layer 4K discs that will not play, triple layer discs seem to work (now). I repeatedly tried playing The New York Ripper, Salt and Independence Day, and they all failed each and every time (lots of noises coming from the drive, you just know it will not play). Then I did the same thing with Bladerunner 2049, Dune (2021), Black Hawk Down and Zombie, and every title immediately played each and every time I tried (insert disc, begins playing the movie, stop, eject and insert again, rinse, repeat). Not sure if this has always been the case though (BD66 not working vs BD100 working), or if this just happen to have evolved recently... ![]() |

Regarding 2. Can confirm I'm using an NTFS USB with a single sub folder and in that the subtitle called sub.srt. |

![]() Last night I tried to watch Ghostbusters II, but after 30mins or so had to give up. Only took 10mins to get the Many Saints of Newark working tho, lol. I just tried Bladerunner 2049 and it worked first time...twice! I can categorically assure you this only started happening a few months ago, every disc worked fine before then without a sniff of a problem! |

Hi Tok. No mate, the player is sat alone with plenty of ventilation, as is my AV amp. I'm expecting some compressed air to arrive today so I'll try that first. Is Isopropyl ok to use on the lens, should I need to?
