MOD discs are problematic even on my Magnetar 800. They burned the disc at a very hogh speed (instead of the max speed of 4x for a dual layer BD-R). Even of it plays, 3-4 years later they become unreadable. I had several MOD titles that can’t be played on any of my player including my Pioneer BD-R reader. It shows the folder but the data can’t be reas.

MOD doesn't automatically mean a burned disc, it just means its not available in stores, online only. Besides, I don't think there are any burned 4K discs.

Yeah, Promising Young Women is a pressed disc. Plays fine in my ub9000. Bought when released (and have the corrected version as well - both play fine).

MOD discs mean a Sony intern made them on their lunch break

I guess the UB9000 doesn't like Sony UHDs. So far the Resident Evil films will keep going black screen with sound when they load the discs. It's an easy fix, but a bit ridicules. I just change the input and go back.

The latest "glitch" with my Panny 820: The player cannot read some discs when first inserted. I have to press EJECT, wait a second or two then close the tray. Then the disc starts playing. They charge a lot of money for this junk, don't they?

I have the same issue. Happens about once a week but eventually the disc plays between re-inserting or rebooting.

I have a Upgraded UB-9000 and Oppo 203.
I wished that I could have the best of both in one. That would have been the most optimal 4k player ever. |

After a super solid 2-year run, my Panasonic UB9000 is now starting to pixelate and have dropouts, both 4K and Blu-ray. Going to try a lens cleaner today to see if it helps. Discs that are having issues on my UB9000 work fine on my XBOX series X.
edit: This lens cleaner appears to have resolved the issue. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00419ZT3E Last edited by Ruined; 09-22-2025 at 07:48 PM. |

I've been questioning my self if it's worth connecting the UB9000 to the Oppo, but then say to myself that will somehow make things worse and not better. Or the Oppo will override UB9000's superior picture quality making effort pointless.

Got a new cord after checking my TV and UB9000 specs to hopefully optimize picture quality and stop possibly a few issues. If all else, I needed another HDMI cord to turn my Oppo into a glorified upconverter for my LG BH200. The cord I've been using is the Oppo cord.
