Thank you. I really needed it and not only for the money. I started working when I was 20 and until I had the "accident" (more on that later, if you're interested) in 2012 I had never been unemployed, which is really something that seldom happens in Spain. The key to that was hard and honest job untill I left my job as a tour guide in 2007, got the licence to be an armed security officer and my boss took all that "hard and honest job" either too seriously or too far, maybe both. One thing is true, I got on the hands of unescrupulous people on a company (Securitas, the Swedish security company which logo are three red dots, I think it operates in the US under a different name) that treates people like disposable stuff.
I didn't have a life for 5 years, working 12 hour shifts for up to 3 and a half months in a row without a single day off, calling me to work on my days off, or at 2 or 4 at night. I've been called to work while watching a movie at the cinema on a day off countless times. They interrupted every single aspect and activity of my life, family time, leisure time, breaking my holidays (I only had two 15 days holidays in 5 years), sex, yes, they called me I don't know how many times while having sex, I had to leave what I was doing, get my uniform on and go to work.
Untill one day, June 13th 2012 I fainted, suddenly, my body got rigid, I fell straight to the floor, my shoulders got the hit (fortunately it wasn't my head) and they got all messed up, heavily messed up. I can't drive, I can't lift more than 4 kilos (and I'm a big guy) I can't wash my hair with my both hands, if I carry a bag with those 3 or 4 kilos I can't smoke or have a Coke can as I have to carry the weight with my "good" arm, the right one, and I can't get my left hand to my mouth to drink or smoke. These are just some things I can't do and I won't be able to do anymore.
I got a 573 Euros pension after spending 5800 Euros (that I fortunately had) on a lawyer and doctors to sue our Social Security.
I worked so hard to make a living and it all went away because of my boss. Two years before the accident/incident I told my boss that I couldn't hold much longer like this and my boss answered me it was either his way or be fired.
I've paid so many thousand Euros on taxes, which are high in Spain, to get so little from this low quality democracy we have in Spain.
I'm sorry for the off topic but when I remember this I feel so much rage and HATE, yes, hate, for my country and its mean and lousy so called democracy.
If you read this I'm sorry you had to read my rage, hate and negativity, but I can't feel any other way.

Sorry to hear that. Nothing wrong with letting off a little frustration every now and then. Good luck on the new job!

Next year will be huge boost for physical media with the PS5, and XBox Series X both of which will be monsters of tech supporting the UHD disc format. The PS5 alone will do what the PS3 did for Blu-Ray. The future for the UHD format is so bright I have to wear shades.
Physical media isn't dead, but it is very much dying. Physical media revenue keeps dropping and streaming media revenue keeps increasing. Nothing is going to reverse that trend.

Have you tried to use https://www.justwatch.com/us to locate what happened to some show you were watching earlier on a streaming site? The content owners are gradually yanking back the shows and films to fill their official VoD sites, like Disney, BBS-ITV, Warner Bros, NBC/Universal, CBS. Pretty soon you have to sign up multiple subscriptions to watch what you use to find on Netflix or Amazon. Yep its the old Google tactic give it away for nothing then when it starts making money pull it back into the fold.

Hopefully what the 420/820/9000 provides is all you need.

I sent an e-mail to Panasonic Spain last Thursday regarding the issue with my 420 not reading the third layer of 100 GB discs. I'm moving to a new town next Friday that's over 100 Km to the Panasonic Service where I left my 420 two months ago!!!!
They answered me today that they will pass the info to another department and will e-mail me back. Also, they said they haven't located the issue with my 420. It's on the disc drive you morons!!!
I asked them to shipmy 420 to a Panasonic Service that's at 10 Km to where I'll live and they said that they'll look into it. I even sent them the websites and phone numbers of two Panasonic Services in that are.
As soon as I get it repaired,if I ever get it properly repaired, I'm selling it. I love how it looks but if it fails again I'm not going through another oddyssey to get it serviced. Those Panasonic Madrid technicians are really clumsy.
Sony service is in Barcelona and it's right the opposite, very well trained people that sort things out in a week or so.

I'm having my own issues with this player. A few weeks ago the built in apps stopped being in HDR. BOTH Amazon and Netflix will only output SDR. But the actual Blu Ray player is outputting HDR perfectly fine. The only way to get hdr out of Netflix or Amazon is to force hdr through all of the apps contents, but this I believe forces fake hdr and isn't the real Metadata for shows that are actually in hdr. My ideas? Happen to anyone else? I guess next step is a factory reset.

Now that your disc woes have settled a bit, have you had a chance to try the mod?

Two months today since I took my Panasonic 420 to be repaired and still no news. Worst of all, I think I've said before here that I got an accident back in June 2012 that left my both shoulder all messed up. I was fired as I couldn't work as a security officer anymore (some security officers in Spain work with a gun, like I did), so I'm a disabled person.
¡I got my first job in 7 years and not a bad one! But it's 70 Km. from where I lived before. I'mnow at over 100 Km. to the nearest Panasonic Service in the case Panasonic Madrid ever get it repaied. I'd have to take two buses and a train to collect it when/if it's repaired.
I know what happened to my 420 was bad luck but once I get it repaired I'm selling it. On the case it fails again I don't go to go through this oddyssey again.
I'm sorry Panasonic Spain but I don't trust you anymore, You've lost a customer.
My Sony X-800 reading disc drive failed almost two years ago and it only took 10 days to get it repaired.

Why not just send an email to the repair place with your new address?

I already have and they said that they'll only ship it back to the Panasonic Service I left the player in.
The new town I live in has a population of 5000 people (1400 of them are English living here that came looking for the good weather but avoiding the messy towns on the coast and the high prices, fortunately I hope I may socialize with them, and I'm a native Spanish) but at 9 Km there's a bigger town with a population of 50000 people with a Panasonic service.
Panasonic Spain is based in Madrid, Sony Spain is based in Barcelona, I won't get into the Catalonian independence stuff but people from Catalonia are much much more realiable, resolutive and better at working than people of Madrid that has no factories, it doesn't produce anything, it's just that the Goverment and some of the main (but not all) main companies, domestic and foreign, are based in there. Mix High Corporation Executives with politicians and what do you have/get?
Catalonia and the Basque Country have been big industrial centers since the early 1800's while Madrid "only" had the Goverment HQ. You go to Madrid, and nobody speaks a lick of English!!! You go to Barcelona, San Sebastian, or Bilbao and things change.
The Basque Country has the highest wages in the whole country, do you know where Pepsi Spain is based? In Vitoria, in the Basque Country, among some (many others) other domestic companies.
Madrid is a mess, they're clumsy and unreliable people, and I'm not from the Basque Country or Catalonia,I'm from Galicia, In Northwestern Spainbut I live in Southern Spain.

Do you want mine? I'm about to throw it through the window.

I got a proper cable but now I can't get it to recognize the TV is HDR. It keeps converting. Tried all the tricks I can think of, but no luck. Then to add insult to injury, on the player settings screen it goes back and forth between letting me set it to 4K resolution but also telling me 4K/60 (the only option) isn't allowed. The 4K tv is not 4K.

Well, maybe you can contact the service center you originally took the player to and have them forward it to you when they receive it. You’d probably have to pay for shipping, but that’s probably better than making the trip to pick it up.

Thanks for the advice but I don't think they'll agree to that, they want the owner of the player in the repair shop tocheck the player works properly before leaving.
As the old slogan said (I think it was from the late 1980's) "Spain Is Different", too different for my taste.

Sorry for the potato quality of this pic, but is HDR on? I'm confused. This display message makes it look like it is, but both this disc and another are telling me to pony up for a TV that supports it (which the TV already does...)

I'm debating contacting Panasonic because it's been doing some weird things even before I got the new TV, so I don't think it's just a handshake issue.

When I want to check if HDR is on I check my projector's info screen. I think all you're seeing there is that the Panasonic is reading HDR(PQ), but whether or not your TV is actually playing HDR is something to check on the TV, IMHO.
