I just bought the 9000 or 900 remote for my 820. It works so much better than the old remote. It matches it perfectly Is easier to use too. Best $15 I have spent in a long time.

Does anyone know if Shout Factory blu-rays (Region A) work with the remote trick to circumvent the region lock on the UB820?
I know the trick works with region A criterions, but I was hoping to buy Shout's upcoming Event Horizon. ![]() Thanks |

I got it off of eBay. Bought 2 for $24.48. because I plan on buying another 820 or 420 when it goes on sale low enough again. It’s one of the ones that say Panasonic on the bottom. Tried to upload an image but it won’t let me. Found the link.

The small non-lighted remote is about the only con of the 820 package. Didn't even realize that a 9000 remote would work with it. Great idea! Despite the nice price in Yogi6807's link, that one is missing the HDR Setting button. Thanks to those of you that mentioned that the European 9000 remote also works with US players, I grabbed one of those since that does include the HDR Setting. I should now be in possession of the perfect player!

Just as an update to this, I ended up exchanging the disc and the new one has no problems. So it definitely was the disc, although it still is strange the PS5 could handle it without any issues. First time I've had a disc that refused to play - I've had a few I had to clean due to some freezes, but never had one where that didn't completely fix the issue until Dunkirk. There really wasn't any visible scratches on the disc, although admittedly there definitely was a layer of coating that was very difficult to completely remove.

It's been a week since I received the Panasonic DP-UB820, and so far I love my new 4K player, best $400 I've spent on a Blu-ray player!
And also I'm coming from the LG UBK90 which is a decent player for the most part, but obviously this Panasonic really do blow that LG out of the water! |

Why would you use that button? It does nothing but artificially raise the brightness level. Which means it also raises blacks in the video you are watching. The only advantage it has over just raising the brightness on my tv is the black bars stay black.

Anyone have their settings to the 820 posted somewhere in the thread? Or would you mind sending me your advised settings? I just picked this player up a few weeks back and am just now getting around to being able to play with it and it has alot of settings. Im running a 7.1.4 setup (7 stage 1 sub 4 atmos) not sure if I have that surround setup listed correctly but you get the idea. I appreciate any help.

Lionsgate?! I have no idea what you're talking about as I do not have any Lionsgate Dolby Vision discs. Also, the DP-UB420, DP-UB820 and DP-UB9000 are current models still being produced and supported by Panasonic.

Some of their most recent Dolby Vision discs have playback glitches when using the Dolby Vision layer that affects Panny 4k players. Maybe Panny still makes players but when they fail to keep the firmware up to date, they "ain't" supporting their players. |
