I am thinking of a hard reset but I worry I can't get the other setting right after. I am still going to try using Audio and Video through one HDMI to see if that makes a difference. |

The issues with DV reported by Stacey Spears could be fixed with Dolby Labs and Panasonic in partnership since Dolby supposedly has new and improved DV code. However, Panasonic has been extremely slow at supporting their 4k players, even before the pandemic. |

I was able to get the LPCM track to work by removing the AUDIO HDMI OUT Cable. Unfortunately when I use the one cable setup now all the menus in the 820 blink a large static image due to some other conflict in my system. One thing and then another... lol I will sort that out hopefully and be good to go. It seems to me that the 820 has an issue with Audio out HDMI OR it is limited to PCM 2.0 on Audio OUT via HDMI by design. |

It might be worth trying some new HDMI leads, it sounds like there's some kind of handshake or bandwidth issue. What are your video settings? you've enabled the extra bandwidth for HDMI 2.0? |

I thought I had solved everything however I have determined that using one HDMI out to AVR is not possible for me.
For some reason it just flickers in and out without a stable signal. If I go to my AVR menu then back out, it will show the 820 menu. The problem is playing any disc just flickers again when it tries to display the menu. It is not useable. I thought it could be my HDMI cable so I used my HDMI 2.1 cable from my PS5 and same issue. I am really frustrated at this point so I suppose I will have to live with the LPCM 5.1 to PCM 2.0 issue as at least that was minimal impact. Factory reset did nothing. The Panasonic 820 does not work through my Pioneer LX901 AVR. Thanks for everyone that tried to help. Last edited by TheZoof; 04-14-2021 at 01:26 AM. |

... I reset everything back to how I had it originally and now LPCM 5.1/6.1 is working as it should...
Sigh. Honestly I have no idea what the issue was/is however I hope I don't have to touch it until I get my next AVR. LOL |

QUOTE from page 24 of the April/May 2021 Sound and Vision magazine
“Even if you’re not ready to upgrade your receiver, its still a good idea to grab an Ultra HD Blu-ray player while they are still being manufactured. And the DP-UB9000 is the only current player option that offers a 7.1- channel analog output,…” Even some people at Sound and Vision magazine might believe that streaming one day might replace optical players and optical media. Hopefully physical media well last many more years to come. |

Got my UB820 in yesterday and tested it out. I'm really pleased with the HDR Optiimizer. Seems to help a lot with the "pillar of light" effect on my LG UH8500 LED, particularly in dark scenes. I need to pop in the UHD of Unforgiven, the last scene in the bar in that movie was so dark with super bright highlights that it made my TV go haywire.
The 3D playback seems really solid too. And looks like the 1080p upscaler is top notch too. I put in Greenland, a new blu-only movie, and it was hard to tell I wasn't watching 4K. And man, the audio is HOT on this thing. I had to lower it about 3 db from what I usually played movies at on my Sony x700. |

The Sound and Vision writers either forgot about the UB820, or the UB820 has went out of production. In prior posts/threads several times I have mentioned the two Panasonics with the 7.1 analog audio outputs. One still needs to use bitstream over HDMI if they want to hear 11.1 Dolby Atmos and DTS X. Therefore because of Dolby Atmos and DTS X, HDMI offers the best sound quality.

Don't get your hopes up. If anything, I would say that pretty soon we will be scrabbling for any remaining players as they go on clearance. By that time, we'll know that physical media's days are numbered. I don't like to think of it that way, but here we are. However, if there is only Kaleidascape left for quality downloads and the rest of us are stuck with lousy streaming... then I'm done with this hobby. Done. Why keep buying fancy TV's, projectors, and expensive speakers, amps, subs that will shake the walls when all we're going to be feeding them is bargain basement crap. |

What audiophiles can make good use of are the XLR analog stereo out connections of the 9000's own DAC. ...Like the Oppo 205 of past. Anyway 4K BR players are still with us in 2021, with separate Audio/Video HDMI outputs (no HDMI input though, like in the Oppo 205 of past which was also an audiophile DAC). And I think we'll see 4K BR players for few more years. ...Perhaps even an 8K BR player? |
