You would need to have a external 4K HDCP 2.2 HDMI active splitter placed on the Panasonic 4K Blu-ray player on the main HDMI output so that you can have two HDMI devices connected at the same time while still using the analog/digital audio outputs. That should solve the problem. In the ideal world a 4K Blu-ray player should have two HDMI outputs that offered both video and audio out of both HDMI outputs.

The external HDMI splitter should be a work around for the Panasonic players limitation.

That confirms my theory. In my case I don't need dual HDMI Outs out of the UB9000 because I'm connecting the UB9000 HDMI (VIDEO) OUT to my Denon X6700H HDMI 5 input with a single HDMI cable carrying video and audio, the same way I was doing with my UB820 as my receiver is fully 4K HDCP 2.2 so no need for workarounds splitting video and audio.

Like in the Oppo 103/105, 103D/105D, 93/95

You can use HDMI (VIDEO) OUT which sends video + audio and also use Analog/Digital outs without turning OFF HDMI (Audio). I guess most UB9000 owners are bypassing their processors/receivers video and use both HDMI outputs: HDMI (VIDEO) OUT from UB9000 to the TV or projector and HDMI (AUDIO) OUT from UB9000 to the Processor which in this case will turn OFF the Analog/Digital outs but if you don't bypass your processor or receiver and send signal to the processor from UB9000 HDMI (VIDEO) OUT and from the processor to your TV or Projector then you will have video and audio over HDMI (HDMI VIDEO OUT) and also audio over analog/digital outs. I get that if your processor or receiver is not HDMI 2.0a then you have to use both HDMI outs and bypass your receiver/processor and in this case you won't get simultaneous sound from HDMI Audio OUT and analog/digital outs. In any case, tomorrow as soon I get the UB9000 I will test everything and post my findings.
Thank you for the precision, and yes please do.

So, you cannot make this stuff up. As I've repeatedly stated, the 820 is the most sensitive player I've ever owned....whether we're talking CD, DVD, BD or UHD BD. It's ultra sensitive in that the tiniest little micro smudge or spec of dust will trip up playback on a disc. I could have sworn 'Crusade was ultra clean before putting it in the player, but I double checked last night in a brighter light; and there was indeed a small fingerprint on the very edge of the disc. Maybe a millimeter at most. I also noted a very tiny 'cut' on the edge of the disc. However, after ensuring the disc was 100% perfectly clean and despite the very small edge cut, the playback on the second (and third time testing) was flawless.

Grab one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/Maxell-190059.../dp/B00000JPPI

It cleans your lens without touching it. Worth it's weight in gold.
I use on all players once per month.

Edit: Grab the blu-ray version.

And I’ve yet to encounter a playback problem specifically related to the physical condition of the disc (aside from a disc that was visibly damaged, as I mentioned upthread) on my 820, and I didn’t even buy it new. Seems like it’s pot luck as to how sensitive these players are, from any manufacturer.

Got the UB9000 1 hour ago. Setup took less than 5 mins (I had all cables ready). UB9000 Analog Outs (RCA) into my Parasound Halo P6 and UB9000 HDMI (VIDEO) Out into my Denon X6700H. I get simultaneous audio from both with Video. I can switch between the Denon X6700H and Parasound P6 on the fly without turning HDMI Audio OFF. Like the User Manual says, this only happens if you use HDMI (AUDIO) Out socket, not HDMI (VIDEO) Out socket. Listening right now to some CDs and it sounds amazing!!! BTW, mine came with original AKM DACs and Firmware is 1.64.

Perfectamundo

Audio wise it is most likely the best 4K BR player in North America.
I'm talking about a player you can buy in stores, not on eBay.

I'm sure you have read the technical/objective audio review on it?

Yep, I have read almost every review available, including Amir's review and measurements over ASR because as an engineer, I really appreciate technical data and measurements.

IMO the UB9000 is right behind the two Oppo UHD models (203/205). The Oppo's have the edge though as it does not play SACD,DVD-Audio so it's not a true universal player but it does everything else wonderfully. Yes, CD's sound great on the player. congrats, enjoy. It's still the best player on the market in North America along with the UB820. Sony's X800M2, X1100ES coming right after the UB9000/UB820.

Hi guys. My projector has HDR (REC 709)and looks amazing, but I’ve also found the HDR to SDR (709) mode to be really pleasent to the eye, specially thanks to the preservation of the black floor.

What I sometimes miss is the saturation. My projector has a factory calibrated rec 709 mode, and although pretty correct, with the HDR-SDR 709 conversion of the Panny it feels its a bit short of that “saturation pop”, yet normal SDR bluray or streaming movies looks great and perfectly saturated.

What would be the recommended way to crank up saturation without sacrificing accuracy, doing it from the player or right to the projector? I’m not a professional so no calibration equipment. Any other tips for superficial calibration? I do have the Spears & Munsil 4K disc.

I'm willing to bet the Panasonic tone mapping is superior to your projector, but without a quality meter and software there is no telling where the rec 709 gamut is at from an "accuracy" standpoint. Same goes for greyscale and gamma. You're going to have to largely eyeball it although you should be able to set black level, contrast, and basic saturation okay enough with the Spears disc.

Apart from the Vertigo UHD layer change issue the only other problem I've had is with some used DVDs, turned out they'd been cleaned and there was a sticky residue over them (when you rang your finger over them it stuck!). After I washed them they played fine, thankfully.

I'm pleased to hear of your success with the UB9000 playing CDs.

I still use my UB900 for CDs, and retain the enthusiasm from day one. It has ESS DAC.

Happy listening.

Then with my Indiana Jones Collection same exact is happining with The Last Crusade. I should mention I cleaned those discs in many ways and it did nothing. Now,It doesn’t happen with every disc but it happens.

Thing is, I tried those discs on my Sony X700 and they played perfectly fine, so… I came to the concluson it couldn’t be the discs but the player. Should I exchange the Indiana Jones set for a new one? the problem seems to be only with Last Crusade

I also some times wonder if I buy the same player again, would it give the same issue?

Thanks for your orientation in advance guys!
A quick update after I received the exchange copy of the Indiana Jones set and with The Last Crusade still giving me the same kind of problems with the new set.

Well.. I did a factory reset of my Panny player (this time didn’t even connected to internet) and wow.. no issues anymore with that disc, apparently. I watched the problematic sequences three times and no pixelation or sync problems. Why would that be? Does this make any sense?

Sounds like you had a player glitch and a factory reset cleared up the problem. Rebooting and resting any device with a operating system is sometimes required.

I am going to give this a try. Maybe it will relieve some of the glitchiness with my unit.
