The external subtitle menu is only supported in the English language. If you switch your
unit’s on-screen language to something other than English the external subtitle menu will
not be shown correctly. To fix this, switch the on-screen language to English and restart the
unit.

Hi, I read from the RattleByte Firmware manual that external subtitles work only for movies with English audio, that the functionality does not work in another language. For those who have the enhanced firmware from Regionfreedom can you confirm if it works like this too?

Hi guys, does anybody know if something happend to regionfreedom? On Tuesday I sent a request form and confirmed my email. But I still havent got a reply back. Did anything happen? It's one of the reasons I got my 820...

I just got the new 820 unit from Amazon yesterday. I set it all up and test out the 4K of Bram Stoker's Dracula and it looked and sounded amazing. An upgrade over the Sony. But in order to preserve it's shelf life, I am going to use it as a 4K player and to play the occasional blu-ray.

I will use my region free Sony X800m2 for most blu-rays and DVDs. I also have the unit up higher and on top of something do the disc drive is out in the open.

Did you checked SPAM folder? If yes, then that generally means they don't want to sell the FW to you. Don't take personally, it happened to lot of us. You can't even try with another email id as they black list the MAC address.

But why? I have a friend of mine who is willing to give the update from him to me. Of course the mac adres is different. But this is just annoying. I havent done anything wrong. I just gave him the form and said I want to pay 40 bucks. Wth...

That X800m2 also makes a good system for you to read your 4K files.

When I spoke to them a few years back they said it wouldn't be an issue to move my Sony mod to a Panasonic, they'd just have to send me the files for the microSD card. They did say it was at my risk if I removed it from one player to another.

So 820 to 820 shouldnt be an issue.

Another question regarding audio. I have an HDMI hooked up to the audio out, but it isn't sending sound to my bar. When I click "playback info", it is still showing audio coming from the video port.

When I set the video port to auto and the audio to audio only, it seems the player recognizes a signal when I push playback info as it lists the audio type "hd master" or whatever, but no information in the first boxes that would show what is being sent over the port

I own the Region B model 824. I tested all my Region A Criterion (40 in total) titles. All worked fine with the STOP->TOP MENU trick with the exception of 3 titles. 8 1/2, Kagemusha and Stagecoach. The first 2 are 2009 releases, Stagecoach is from 2010. All my other (working) Region A Criterions are from 2011 or newer.

The Top Gun Maverick 4K review is up, and apparently it wont play on the UB9000 according to the review. Played just fine on the X-Box Series X. Thats not good news at all.

Trying to play The Shining UHD and player just reads, reads, and reads, and then says, “Content owner certification was not verified. Internet access will be prohibited for BD live contents while the disc is played.” Then black screen.

Using Panasonic 820; bought disc in 2019 and watched a couple times before…may have not been this machine, had Sony X700 that died.

Ahh I’m not exactly up to date with the tech ins and outs, but why would it not work on this specific player?

FW not being updated, etc. Hopefully it was just one incident with a player going bad.

The review said the firmware had been updated, though, and it still didn't work. So there must be some sort of conflict between this player and whatever tech was used for Top Gun: Maverick.

Do not connect this or any UHD player to the internet. Turn off BD Live if possible.

My Crank 2 Blu wouldn't play on my 420 or 9000 because of a BD Live problem.

I added a USB thumb drive in the rear and problem solved. I guess onboard storage helped in this case and just wanted to suggest to maybe give that a try.

It will be out soon. Rather than guessing in why his disc can’t be played, just wait until it’s out.

Had my first issue with the new UB820 player. Halfway trough John Wick 3 the audio dropped and picture would stutter very briefly. Took the disc out and cleaned it and it played fine over that scene but would resume the issue soon. Took it out again and cleaned with water and the issue didn't return. Don't know if I need to replace the disc or not. I did notice my player's audio output was set to PCM so changed it to Bitstream. Maybe it'll help the player to let receiver handle all the decoding.

The 820 is currently on sale on Amazon for $399.99. Bought mine at Best Buy a week ago, so I got a price match. I just wish the build quality was a bit better. Glossy plastic scratches and mine has a small manufacturing defect on one top edge. Not enough to return it, but enough to annoy me. Hope it holds up over time. Worried that times running out for players in general, which motivated my purchase.
